I actually recommend riding a long board before a skate board, I rode my friends long board a lot, and it reached me balance and feet placement, and pushing. Soon as you get a skate board, your already a few steps ahead, all you have to do is get comfortable with the diffrient types of turns, and the way the board moves differently
