Hi, do you only have infrared in your home? If you do, how do you heat your hot water?
Heat pumps can do both so it makes a difficult comparison

I’m going to get IR in my whole house this year. I have a standard 3 bedroom end of terrace house and a 4.6 kwp PV system, a Thermodynamik hot water system, and the gas boiler is only used for heating the radiators fur 5 months a year. Still I pay standing charge all year. For a gas bill of 1000€ p.a. I think I can be cosy warm with IR when I need it.

We've been looking at IR panels, but haven't been convinced yet. It's very difficult to know how effective they are going to be compared to air forced heat pumps which have been around here in New Zealand for several decades and are tried and tested. Our Consumer test organsiation here in NZ did a test with IR panels compared to traditional heating systems and found this. "Our power consumption test found IR panels didn’t save power compared to the other electric heaters. It should be noted the conventional heaters were run at their lowest settings and could be ramped up, whereas IR panels have no power settings – they are either on or off. If you found they struggled to warm your room, your only option would be to either add more panels or turn on another heat source. IR heaters come at a hefty price. Fitting out our thermal lab with two 450W panels cost nearly a grand. You could pick up a similarly performing radiant heater for less than $100."
