1. Take everything out in an organized manner. Like items together.
2. Wide push broom to sweep out garage.
3. Sort into piles: yes, no, maybe.
4. Don’t just store it, use it. Use extra furniture for organizing.
5. Plan out space before putting everything back in.
6. Consolidate like items in some organized way (bins, containers, etc.)
7. Use the walls with shelving of bins, etc. for unsightly items.
8. Keep bulky and seasonal things in back area where it’s more difficult to get to.
9. Use clear bins to store things so it is easily visible.
10. Add outdoor rug to make more homey.
11. Store frequently used items near opening for easy access.
12. Light it up with lights on one switch.

Even if you have clear bins, 1000% game changer when we taped a sheet of paper on the outward facing side where we put a general label of what’s inside and in smaller writing, listed any notable items that we knew we would need to find a couple times in the future (or if there was a mixture of things kind of related)

I added an old rug for my dog and an exercise bike. Another helpful hint, is to arrange for a charity pickup right away because that will motivate you to box things up that are still good but you do not need.

Very energetic video. First time viewer. This part was funny “...don’t put stuff that is sentimental or you’re afraid of getting spiders or dirt on them here...look my bridesmaid made this for us...”. Lol.

I can’t believe you still have the solo cup light! Brings me back to the early days of watching your channel. You’ve been doing great!

One day, someone told me "it's funny how we buy things at retail price and then sell it at a garage sale later for pennies on the dollar and walk away from the garage sale thinking we made money."

That's when I realized, I really need to think about if I need to buy something. Hopefully all that stuff doesn't end up in the garage!

What I like about this video is that she does reuse some existing furniture. That seems real. Unlike videos where everything gets replaced with $20, 000 of the garage organization system from the sponsoring company.

I'm so doing this. Right now it's so hot in Southeast Georgia, you can't stay out there very long. I do have one strategy I'm going to start now. Everyday, for the next 3-4 weeks, I'm going to go through every draw or cabinet shelf, and purge at least 10 things, maybe more.

I see some of the comments. Loved the music, the length of the video is great, loved your words, loved the printed and numbered steps!!! I have a 66x56 barn full of "oh my" sorting will be a monumentious chore. We have started and I have areas for certain things but then I find I need more room than I thought. So Many great ideas. Thank you!!!

I absolutely love what you've done here. I teach lean manufacturing and what you've done here is called 5S. Sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain. Sort - bang on what you did. You take everything out. Then you hold a "red tag" session. What are you going to keep, sell, give away, throw away, store to decide at another time to keep or not. Of course for the next step deciding where things go. You did this by using your white curtain. Items you don't use often, store them out of the way. Called "frequency of use". The things you use the most, keep them next to the point of use.

I teach this in manufacturing facilities, I do this part a little different than you, I teach "visual management". You should be able to come into an area and right away know if the status quo is "normal" or "abnormal". So I teach people to not use drawers or doors, I want to see everything. You did use some clear bins and drawers so this is good. What you are missing is the labeling aspect. Maybe a bit overkill for home use but check out my "How I Organize a Shed KingBing Style 3" video. My work shed is tiny so I'm forced to be organized. I may add "tiny places" to my videos. Keep posting videos!

Not sure where you live but where do you keep your lawn mower, shovels, leaf blower, snow shovel, plant pots, brooms, garden shovels, shoe/boot storage, garbage and recycling bins? Do you have an outdoor shed for some of these items? Do you actually park your car inside the garage?
