wolf spider vs wasp

The spider bites and gets stung but recovers. The wasp dies a short time later. Yellowjackets commonly hunt wolf spiders but the wolf can win if it has the initiative.
Wolf spider (Tigrosa helluo)
Yellowjacket (Vespula pensylvanica)

Hey I got a question, I was riding my motorcycle on the Florence Kelvin Highway today. Every time I pulled over to take pictures I had one or two yellow jackets buzzing around me. Is this possible? I've been riding this road for 5 years and never seen one in this area. Prescott is the only place I've seen yellow jackets in Arizona. I'm originally from Washington state and they are all over the place there.

giving a spider some wasps or hornets like food i DONT RECCOMEND! because the spider can get stinged or even worse it can maybe die from getting stinged

wow, I thought the spider would die. Most documentaries show the wolf spider getting ripped apart by these things :D

Hmm, that looks like Tigrosa helluo, not Hogna. Hogna doesn't have a helluo species in North America, just so you know.

Great video! I'm glad the spider recovered and the hornet died. I've always wondered why the spider doesn't win more often in these encounters.
