the sight of that wasp made me put my feet under the covers 😭

As other people have commented, that is a European Hornet, not a Northern Giant. Similar size, and very easy to get confused because they look pretty similar. The best visual difference is the black lines on the abdomen: the NGH has straight lines, but the EH has lines that have curvy bits between them.
Additionally, the NGH hasn't been seen outside of the northwest region of the country (mostly Washington), which is why I started researching. If there was a sighting of a NGH in the eastern areas, thats a big deal.
Additional point of luck - the EH has a weaker sting than the NGH. Still... I bet it hurts.

Entomologist here. It is not a murder hornet. It's just a European hornet (Vespa crabro). The accents/marks on the abdomen are the give away to its identity. Cannot blame you either way for not wanting it on your camper.

That's a European Hornet! Im fascinated by insects but also terrified of wasps. I have a cicada killer pinned and framed on my mantle; she still scares me even though I know she's dead.

Wasp was like, "Damn dude it's kinda hot in here. Mind if I turn the AC on?"

Wolf spiders are not poisonous to humans. I usually leave them alone, and they'll kill other spiders, and bugs. They're pretty good hunters.

That’s genuinely much bigger than any wasp I’ve ever seen in Aussie

I love your content! Thanks for not zooming in right away like some people do, I've got a huge fear of spiders and really appreciate that delay so I can click off. Hope you have a lovely day!

The wolf spiders are chill dudes. I recently caught one that looks exactly like that. He's my new pet.

Might not be perfect, but keeping a vacuum cleaner with a long hose + pipe end piece helps to deal with any bugs that get inside.

Love the content though!

Idk if a heavy duty fly swatter will do the trick… you might need a .22 or something for that monster 😂

One day I had a double. Got up in my work clothes I closed so I fell asleep in them.
Next morning was fixing hair, noticed something wasn't right but no time to figure it out.
Came home, was changing into jammies, felt eyes on me again. Turned around to the mirror, and blam.
A wolf spider, bigger than my hands and my head beside my mirror, he was there while I slept. Was there when I got up. And there when I got back home. Uggh was the biggest one I've seen in a while.

Lovely european hornet! Despite their bad rep theyre actually not as flighty or aggressive as people say. And theyre wonderful to have around! They remember faces, and im sure she'll remember your kindness in helping her get free ^^ you have my- and other bug enthiasts'- eternal gratitude for not trying to hurt the bugs you share a space with :D

That spider looks like a wolf spider! They’re super cool little critters!

Definitely a European hornet! Friendly reminder that if this was a cicada killer that you should leave it alone as they are very docile and good for the environment :) it’s okay to be scared of something, but it’s not okay to harm something purely out of fear!

like others said thats a european hornet.
they have a relatively light color on their abdomen and a dark head.
they arent specifically aggressive but when provoked will attack relentlessly.
their sting feels like a hot nail driven into flesh and the pain can last for a few hours radiating over a small area.
