Shout-out to Mr. Mangobutt for voicing every impulsive thought I had while watching this. He’s like the kid in class who asks the uncomfortable questions so you don’t have to.

The hotel got a "groaning" complaint, but not a complaint from the speculated fighting? 100% they were murdered, if they were fighting Im betting the hotel would've gotten a call. Fights aren't quiet, and neither is domestic abuse.

Cover-ups in tourist areas seem common. The hotel and country doesn't want bad publicity which could impact their tourism industry. It's quite disgusting.

imagine fighting for your life begging someone to come save you and then slowly losing your conscious knowing nobody is coming.... how utterly horrifying and cruel it is to die like that..

Kind of sad that this young man was very obviously murdered and yet the authorities are framing him and saying he’s a murderer. How cruel.

I live in Bali, my husband has a huge social circle in Balinese hospitality industry (he used to be a hotelier), he has friends working at Intercontinental. we’re not on tiktok or instagram but we’re active on facebook and actively following news on online news portals, and I’m telling you that WE NEVER HEARD about this news before, it never hit the headlines.

I just looked up for the news online, and yes there are some articles about it but they’re useless and stating different details. none of them talking about the genital being cut, they talked about how pretty she was and how he shit himself instead.

I’m 10000% sure the police were getting something from this, it’s sad but it’s a fact that our police department (basically our government in general) is hella corrupt and will do anything in their favor.

As someone who's always curious about this subject, I found this video incredibly interesting and the shortest way to success is to find a document or book in which everything was explained to you, not half explained. I can recommend the book Forbidden Crypto Hacks. So let me know what your impressions are.

I’ve lived in Bali my whole life, I love listening to true crime because I thought it would never happen where I’m from. I originally thought this was an old case I just never heard of, the chills I got when you said “April 2023”. It’s absolutely insane to me that I’ve never heard of this case and asked the people around me and no one has heard of it either, I did my research and there’s almost no publicity for this case in Indonesia, which makes me believe the police/government definitely had something to do with covering it up.

Regardless of how they were killed, one thing I find gross is how the resort handled the incident. The delayed check to Mr. Bing’s call, hiding of information like the easily accessible balcony with no CCTV coverage, the quick crime scene clean up, the closing the investigation even though there’s almost no chance he killed himself considering he had stab wounds in the back and his fingerprints weren’t on the murder weapon, etc. If the resort isn’t covering up the crime because they were involved somehow then they are the very least guilty of destroying any chance this murdered couple will see justice.

If he took his own life, why would he crawl out his hotel room groaning for help? So disappointed with the attempt to close the case.

44:23 the chills i got when i was listening to this on the podcast... Its haunting to think that his murderer was probably in the room when he crawled to the hallway because he knew there were cctv cameras and their killer cant follow him there. Absolutely horrifying

I appreciate the compassion with which yall cover these less-talked about stories. I appreciate Mister Mango for his interjections and asking hard questions and having so much compassion as well. Yalls research team seems like they're so thorough and I appreciate yalls hard work!

One thing I don’t see people questioning is how the hell did the security not see on the cameras that Lee is naked in the hallway injured and bleeding out in the 20 minutes he tried to drag himself to get help.

I was a cop years ago and I investigated an "unknown trouble" call to a townhouse where the master bedroom had a balcony on the second floor. An ex boyfriend scaled a pole to the balcony and entered via an unsecured sliding glass door. This ex boyfriend then jumped on top of his sleeping ex girlfriend and shot her in the mouth. Her new boyfriend is sleeping next to her and he wakes up and get's his pinky finger shot off while fighting the assailant. The assailant jumps off the balcony before killing himself a few blocks away.... NEVER leave your sliding glass door unsecured! I don't care what floor you are on...
I also worked security for a hotel chain. I never looked for a wheel chair when I got a noise complaint.

I wrote about this news back in May, and as a journalist living in Bali, let me tell you none of us believe what the police said. However, we could not get any further information on this case. It kinda feels "something" is trying to limit our access to be able to dig deeper into this. I even attend the press conference held by the police back then. The police seems to be rushed and hastily even during the press conference, none of us are able to get a comprehensive answer from them

My former boss (very wealthy) traveled to Bali for her honeymoon. She and her new husband stayed at an ultra luxury 5-star resort carrying a ton of jewelry (received from her in-laws in korea prior to their trip to Bali). They were given a cup of welcome tea when they arrived and by the time they went down to the restaurant for dinner they were falling asleep mid-meal. They even had to get up mid dinner to walk around to avoid falling asleep. The following day, they woke up to their entire room ransacked and robbed of every single item including jewelry, cash, clothes (even underwear). The craziest thing is that they were sleeping in the room when the robbery happened. They speculate that the tea was spiked and that it was an inside job. They sued the resort but lost.

Hi stephany, i’m from indonesia. I dont live in Bali, but i can tell you that this is the first time i’ve ever heard of this case. I dont know if my business affecting the delay of this news to myself but i strongly believe that this case is not being talked enough even in Indonesia. Seriously, here in Indonesia crime case about thieves stealing something from a minimarket gain alot of attention, but for a case this huge to not be blown up enough for the citizen of Indonesia itself??? i believe this is a trully shadyyy case.. thank you for bring this up

What I didn't understand was that if the wounds were self-inflicted and he intended to take his own life, why would he go out into the corridor? Would he not want to be in private to slim the chances of someone finding him? His 23 mins of struggle in the hallway seemed like an attempt at finding help and a chance of survival. Truly tragic. I hope that both their families find peace and hope to move forward after this tragic nightmare. 🕊️

As someone who lives in Bali, this is the 1st time I’ve heard of this case. The hotel does have a direct access to a beach but it’s a VERY public beach (NOT private at all, it gets very very crowded during sunset and I’d bring my dogs there all the time) so that could be how the murderer(s) entered the property, AND the beach access wasn’t fenced in or anything so anybody could get in. There is security there but IF there are no cameras that monitor the beach access it’s absolutely mind boggling. I’m off to do my own research lol. Amazing storytelling as always, Stephanie!

My dad always says, " Finances should be private at all times, from everyone, because the minute others know you have money they want it."
