NO TENT, nothing but what I was wearing and had in my pockets. While snow camping during a 48 hour EDC only survival challenge, I stumbled upon a balloon and used it to reflect heat from my fire. This was a solo winter camping experience. There were eight guys that participated in this challenge. There was heavy snow that made its appearance all night. We did not expect snow so it was a big surprise when it started falling fast. You can see the scene change quickly throughout the video. It was a winter wonderland when I woke up.

Camping in the snow isn't always easy. Especially, when you're challenging yourself with only the things that you carry daily. I was lucky to scavenge the balloon to get more heat directed onto me. It was a very cold night. Was I warm during the 2 day survival challenge? No but I did appreciate a campfire and the balloon. We didn't expect such an extreme winter challenge but we all embraced it very well. There were a couple of guys that didn't complete the challenge but everyone pushed to their limits. It's important to put your body and mind through challenges. You don't know how well you will do until you are faced with the situation. I have to say I am very proud of my 15-year-old nephew for completing the challenge. It's the first time that he's ever had to sleep in frigid weather without a blanket. Good job Fellas!!!
