For those not living in 1776, 13.7oz is 388 grams.

"How does it achieve this"

It leaves out half the tent, expexts you to provide those bits separately and then doesn't include those pieces in its weight.

Just carry a $4 disposable drop cloth, some paracord, and use a convenient stick from your camp site.

Have the alta plex...long treks i love it. Small footprint..sets up in less than a minute.. It can be set up in the rain and not get the inside Wet. Very wind resistant... I've got over a hundred nights in it with zero signs of wear.. Even if I bring another tent for weekend backpacking, That is always in my gearbox at the trailhead, just in case... If you have the money to spend, this is the one to spend it on for solo backpacking in my opinion..

I have this tent, but I bought mine used. As with any single wall tent, I have problems with condensation. Other than that, no complaints.

As a child ..I would use the clothes line in my parents backyard...and drape blankets and sheets..or tarps ...weigh it down with my my Mom's huge garden rocks.

Buy the material online and make a tent to your own specifications and you’ll save a couple hundred dollars.

Comparing to my tent ... considering the fact that I do not use trekking poles.

Zpacks plex solo tent:
Tent: 390 grams
Light trekking pole: 300 grams
Light usable(!) tent stakes: 6 * 10 = 60 grams
Total weight: 750 grams (in roughly its lightest configuration).

(one of) my tent(s) (Hilleberg Enan):
Total weight: 1120 grams (Complete. That is, including stuff sack, quality stakes and repair kit)

Weight difference: 370 grams.

The Hilleberg Enan tent is a very strong quality tent with inner tent. It can withstand fairly strong stormy weather. The tent is very strong and stable. And can be even stronger by replacing (the already strong) 9 mm diameter pole with a 10 mm diameter pole. Which will add 50 grams to the total weight.
Reversely, the tent used in its lightest configuration is about 900 grams (which I would not recommend for anything but good weather conditions).
The footprint is about the same as the Zpacks plex solo. The price is comparable (that is, expensive).

The Hilleberg Enan is not better or worse than the Zpacks plex solo. It is just different. Both have their pros and cons.

My opinion:
If you don't use trekking poles, and I don't, then the Enan is just about one of the best alternatives for all around 3-season usage (and even some winter conditions).
If you do use trekking poles with the Plex solo, in slightly less extreme weather conditions the Enan still can handle better, then yes, by all means, I would choose the Plex solo too.

It is incredibly expensive. But having bought it, i think its worth it. Buy a solid groundsheet for it but if you are invested in thru hiking, thus shelter is worth the cost

Ya $600 for a piece of tissue paper... Modern day hiking gear is nothing but a scam

My pack is around 40 pounds, this is definitely something I’m interested in, ease of set up and reduced pounds would be nice. Don’t know why all the hate if you do a lot of backpacking this begins to make sense.
