UPDATED 2024 RANKINGS: MY TOP RECOMMENDED PIZZA OVENS:
(My affiliate links are below—thank you!)

--------------------------------------

The Halo Versa 16 Outdoor Pizza Oven is another solid entrant into the world of outdoor pizza ovens and is a great choice for both beginners and professional pizza makers. In my review of the Halo Versa 16 pizza oven, I realized how awesome the dual burners and rotating pizza stone are. The two burners and rotating cordierite stone work together to give a consistent and hands-free cooking experience. However, after reviewing and testing the pizza oven I realized it works better for New York style and Detroit pizzas than it does Neapolitan (however it's not BAD for this either).

I purchased the Versa 16 because of the reviews on quality of construction, the quality of their packaging and the turning stone. I unboxed last Saturday, and I was extremely impressed with both how carefully everything was packed and protected, and the quality of construction. The best test was Sunday night when I made 4 pizza's back to back. Almost no time delay as the stone stayed at 625-650 constantly. The four pizza's turned out perfectly and I loved that I could chat with friends while it baked instead of having to focus all my attention on rotating the pizza myself. When I purchased, I wasn't convinced this was the pizza oven for me. Now there is no doubt. This is one outstanding oven that does everything it says it will.

Hi, I enjoyed the review. I appreciate the tip about using a pizza screen. Could you please recommend a 16 in. pizza screen?
Thanks for the review.

I have a BlackStone Pizza oven that I am still using since 2011.The BlackStone will always be KING.But I would love trying the Halo's, put it on a small table outside. With the BlackStone you have 2 Stones(one lower and one upper}With the Halo's, who knows how long it will last? When you open it up it seems if something breaks I feel you will have a problem as with the BlackStone the only thing will go wrong is a easy replacement of the

Hey, great review. Sealed the deal on me getting one. What is the stainless steel table that you have it sitting on? I’m looking for something to put it on that can sit outdoors all year round (live in NoCal) so don’t need to worry about snow.

Are you still using this oven? we have had ours a week and the turn table button melted and the control knob surround has melted so badly you cant use it anymore

If this oven could get hotter, I think it would be the best oven out there. Reminds me a lot of the Blackstone oven. I'm on my 4 pizza oven. If there's a way to mod for the top-flame to be hotter, i would buy this oven. Or wait for the manufacturer to improve it. definately keeping an eye on this

Like most pizza ovens, they got close,
but didn't quite make it. The rotating stone is a great feature, but it needs a little more horsepower in the top flame department, a common fail it seems.

How long did the New York and Detroit style pizzas take to cook?

Do you have recommended cook times and temp for NY style? I did the pizza when the stone was 600 and the bottom totally burned.

It can reach 500 ° C to cook classic Neapolitan dough. And it is possible to order it with delivery in Italy.

Great review! Thought about checking them out. But I really want the Ooni Koda 16.

Have you tried frozen pizza’s in the Halo? With the stone ripping hot does it crisp the crust? I don’t have the time always to make a fresh pizza and haven’t seen ANYBODY try a frozen pizza ….regards, Tony

I have to wonder why in the world the motor for this oven couldn't be powered by Peltier generation, seeing as it's a pizza oven that generates so much heat.

Thanks for the in depth review, I’m tossing up for this oven for a birthday gift and curious how its gas consumption is? How much does that add to cost would you estimate. I heard you mention in the Ooni koda’s review it was pretty fuel efficient. I’m in a family of 6 so the low wait time between pizzas and auto rotation seem like they would help the pizza making pipeline stay quick. The halo would cost me 1300 aud to get it in Australia, the koda 16 would be 1100, based on this would you reccomend I still seek out the halo versa?

I couldn't cook anything on my Halo over 650 stone temp or it would burn the crust. On a hunch I got a new stone and today cooked an amazing pizza at 750 in 3 mins flat.
