The model 700 chambered for the 7MM Weatherby has a faster twist rate and stabilizes the longer bullets quite well.

Weatherby! Wakeup! 270, 7mm and 340 Weatherbys should be chambered in Vanguard rifles. Increase twist rates in new rifles.

My 28 nosler is my favorite bolt gun. I have 2 Krieger barrels machined with my Dave Manson custom reamer sized to minimum spec. It does not shoot factory ammo because the neck is 308mils which is why tighter than SAAMI. I have had a lot of luck with Berger 195 EOL's and US-869 powder. My max velocity for that bullet has been over 3100 fps. It is a beast! Thank you very much for the cartridge comparison video!

I have a Whidden Gunworks 28 Nosler that is a one hole gun. Muzzle break makes a huge difference. 82 grains of Retumbo, Federal Gold Medal Mag Primer and 175 grain Berger Elite Hunter. It made me retire my 7 STW.

Staying away from a belted case when I picked up my 28 nosler, purchased a barrel blank and chamber reamer for future barrel burnout, wish I had thought of the weatherby.

I see so many comments here about wanting to use the new heavy for caliber longer high BC bullets. Are you increasing your chamber to accommodate this? Are you changing the internal magazine to accommodate this? If you use those projectiles and stay in the standard case length you will lower your case capacity. The 7mm Weatherby is just fine as is for me.

7mm STW with a 150 gr freedom seed and 81.5gr of h1000 at 3340. Only other 7mm caliber I’d do is a 7mm weatherby

Sugarland Express, a movie starring Goldie Hawn, was the first time that I ever heard of a 7mm magnum. Watch it, if you can find it.

It would be awesome if you did a similar video comparing the 224 weatherby to the 22-250.

All the 7mm magnums are barrel burners, though they give very good results in the field because of their very high BC. I have used the rem 7mm mag in thousand yard competitions and found heat problems with the barrel if over twelve shots are fired on a hot day. The better option is the .284 win which has a muzzle velocity of 130 fps less than the rem mag but the barrel lasts a lot longer and is slightly less prone to overheated barrels. I think all the 7mms are good for hunting because of the BC and sectional density but for competitions I have moved back to the thirty cal magnums with high BC 215 grain Bergers and if I want to use a 7mm it will be the .284 win.

my ’71 built 7mm Mark V southpaw has accompanied me to Alaska numerous times…grizzly elk and moose…all one shot kills at 350 to 450yds…one moose took two…and thats only because he would have staggered backwards over a 150ft drop if not for that second…it’s all about shot placement when your’e out there….’The Grim Reaper’… is the 7mm Weatherby…!

Would you know any rifle manufacturers besides nosler and browning that chamber in 28 nosler?

At what point does diminishing returns kick with velocity, recoil, and cost?

if weatherby would have went to a faster barrel twist the 7 mm rem mag would have never gained its popularity that it has today ! but I wi say that loading the 7 mm rem mag out close to mag length it and the 7mm weatherby are almost identical in performance ! but the nod still goes to the weatherby ! grest vid keep em coming!

I as well really like the 7mm
I have been shooting the 7mm Rem mag for 40 years.
With great success.
Yes the weatherby and 28 nosler have better ballistics.
I am not sure if the additional ammunition cost and availability and recoil is worth it.
Because an animal really doesn’t care if it gets hit with 1900 ft lbs of energy or 2100 .
It is still dead.
If I didn’t have the 7mm rem I would probably go with the weatherby.

Love the 7mm calibers, I wish I knew what app you use for the charts.
