I feel like the mute switch light should be on when in use and off when it’s not in use

I agree with most of this, but the high haptics are actually worth the drain for me. They’re just so good

I always mute my controller when I'm playing solo just because I never knew it was a battery drainer. Learn something new everyday.

You can also change the light settings to dim. This drastically improves battery life.

setting the light bar to dim can also be useful;)

You can also reduce brightness of dualsense lights to make battery last longer

Lowering the controller speaker to 0 actually turns it off completely. Games that use the controller speaker always have the option to turn it off, which forces all audio out the tv/speakers, so just remember to give the settings a quick glance before starting a game

I turn the mic off each time I play alone so no problem

That's a subtle way to tell people to subscribe (shown during the voice command tip). I'd sub if I wasn't already.

Hmmm very interesting. I avoided muting the controller because I figured since there was a light, it would drain more battery. I didn’t know that it was CONSTANTLY listening for voice commands. You Got a thumbs up from me for that one bro, thanks 🙏

I always put my controller on mute when I boot up and had no idea there was an automatic setting for that. Thanks for this tip. 🙌

I never knew that you can automatically set it to mute. For 2 years I’ve been pressing mute every time I got on it lol. I started doing that because having it on would make my game echo for ppl in public chat and also ruin the sound in my recordings.

Even still though the controller still gets low really fast no matter what. I do like the lights and haptic feedback so I don’t think I’ll turn those down but for PS4 games it sounds good to do.

Thanks for the tips

I hate that orange light, it should be ON when the mic is ON, I don't like it glowing when I'm just playing a single player game by myself, I'd like to have it off as well as my mic muted. It's not only annoying but also confusing, It doesn't make any sense the way it is and we should be able to change that too.

Another setting i employ is the turning brightness of the color indicator from standard to dim

I plain on using all of these controller tips. Sony should give a mandatory heads up to consumers about muting your controller(s) microphone for those who either just bought their console or others that aren't in the know so they can avoid misunderstandings and awkward kinds of situations with both online parties or love ones within an earshot of their gaming setup.

I always go through the setting on any new piece of tech I get. And the voice thing was one of the first things I turned off. It just seemed pointless and odd that it is on by default. Never even thought about battery life. But I can't reduce my controllers quality for battery. (Haptics/trigger and speaker). I don't sit far away to play, I'm just in my room at me desk, so charging while playing isn't a problem at all. Plus I do use headphones when I can so the speaker thing takes care of itself. I just can't take away a core feature like haptics/triggers from the dualsense. It would be like getting a new driveway that's heated, but never using the heat function to save on electric bill.

Light bar brightness helps too. Mine was maxed out (I don't remember doing this) and I set it to medium dim and got a whole extra hour on rocket league sessions.

Thanks for posting this. The defaulting the mic button to mute made a big difference.
