As a former Sony/SOE/SCCE Technician, Sony will never admit to issues no matter how much evidence you gather.

If they admit it's an issue, they have to, by law, enact ... Something. Compensation, recall etc. They never will

Me who knows a bit of French:
Aha, I'll be able to understand a quarter of what they said.

Here in Brazil a guy ho has a repair shop discovered the real issue... its the termal pads that Sony used on the older version of ps5 (1014) after running a bunch of test he came to the conclusion that the problem was the termal pads, because they are so tick that they create a pressure on the higher side of the chip so de liquid metal can't stay evenly distributed on the chip

This is a problem you don’t have to worry about unless your console has been dropped or the foam housing has been tampered with. There has only been a couple of cases where the liquid metal leaked into the motherboard. If anything a more underlying problem is that if your console’s heat syncs are clogged with dust and debris, it can put unnecessary stress on the liquid metal causing it to cool improperly leaving sections of your apu to overheat. Moral of the story, clean your console every once in a while and it’ll be just fine.

Rip to those people who bought their ps5s for 1000bucks

My console has been vertical since launch with no issue.

I think if you buy one directly from the SONY store, it’s very likely that you get the newest revision.

I have a launch PS5 and apparently the heat sinks on those were over engineered(they originally launched with fatter beefier heat sinks) Hopefully mine is unaffected.

Had my ps5 vertical since launch, runs probably 6 hours a day at least. No heat issues, not any louder than the day I got it, still runs smooth. I air out collected dust every few months and that's all the maintenance I do.

According to a Brazilian youtuber that issue happened in the first ps5 models like 1000 series that has a high thermal pad around the apu, so that makes this causes the aluminum part that touches the apu to have some slack, hence the liquid metal leaks.
Turns out that thermal pad was removed on the 1100 model, so that issue has been resolved.

I've taken mine apart and put back together back in December and it still running strong. And it's a first day launch ps5.

Just watched a video from that guy quoted in the article. He said its bot an issue for any os5 out of the box meaning. Not messed with by 3rd parties. His statment was that 3rd party maintenance can be potentially harmful if there is too nuch paste used as it can seep past the barrier

Sucks I don't have anywhere to put mine horizontal. It's been vertical for a bit over 2 years and still no problems other than losing power when in rest mode (it came like that)

Almost 2 years and still have my ps5 standing up.. These guys make videos out of any ps5 stories real or not 😂

It would be nice if Sony told us what versions had the flaw, then we could find a serial number or something like that on the console to see if our console was a flawed version, but y’know, Sony isn’t even going to admit to it in the first place

And that's exactly what I said in the last video. Good that you made a second one to clarify

I had it standing since launch and used it basically non stop... and never had any issues

"It can happen to consoles never before opened by a repair shop" sooo the customer opened it and dabbled with it then? So technically true, but misleading.
