i used to use avira many years ago. it spat out a metric duckton of false positive and corrupted pretty much all my files. i've never touched it again ever since and i never will.

As a normal PC user that doesn't make a habbit of going where I shouldn't go on the web, it does a decent job. I did however removed if from my laptop, an i7 with 16GB of ram and it reacted like a clingy, stalker ex-girlfriend. I can remove a 60GB game off my laptop in seconds, but Avira took 10 minutes to uninstall...clinging to my laptop in the hopes that I'm an impatient person who simply says "FINE....you can stay!" Thank God I'm patient. I will not be reinstalling it on my laptop regardless of how the next one acts, simply because of the uninstall time. In today's day and age there is no excuse other than intentionally being a douche to make an uninstall take that long. So....later Avira, learn to optimize.
