"It is sad that governments are chiefed by the double-tongues..."  What an accurate and enduring fact.

A great scene that exemplifies all the best parts of being a real man.
Some people might call this quaint, while I call it timeless virtues.

"It is good that warriors such as we meet."

An iconic scene.

Just watched this movie and had to rewind and watch this scene again because it was so good.

"Governments don't live together, people live together..." - most gangster Western ever.

Lessons learn from this scene.
1. Death is the only thing that guaranteed in life.
2. People can indeed work out their differences.
Government doesn't (if not never) keep its promise

Perhaps the finest western ever made. The dude who portrayed Ten Bears was the shit. Love this movie!

How can anyone, I mean anyone, put a thumbs down to one of the greatest movie scenes in history? This is a piece of magnificence!

Truly the most "badass" scene I have ever seen
Men and countries should live this way

That whole scene had poetry mixed with negotiation "it's sad that governments are cheif'd by the double tongues". This line itself made me love this scene. History always repeats. Its true even today and maybe forever.

This is not the best scene in "The Outlaw Josey Wales" It may just be one of the best scenes in any movie.
I don't care how many times I see it, it still affects me the same.
There is Iron in their words.

I have watched this scene over and over for almost the last fifty years. Every time I watch it I am almost always moved to tears just as I am during the last scene of the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales where Fletcher says I think I will go down to Mexico and tell Josey that the war is over. This is not only one of the greatest westerns every made it is one of the greatest movies ever made. Nowadays Hollywood gives us Matt Damon and Leonardo di Caprio in a whole lot of junk. This movie had real honest to goodness men in it, Will Sampson and Clint Eastwood, who played men who could come together and reason together despite all the horrors around them. Will Sampson should have gotten an Oscar for this performance. It was just so authentic when he said "I am ten bears." He just nailed it.

I always loved this scene from the first time I saw this movie in the 1970s. This is exemplary manhood. Always speaking the truth, courageous, humble, showing mutual respect, true to their word and living by the creed that their word is their gospel... iron words indeed. If only boys were raised to be such men today.

The interaction between Clint and the people he met along the way in this movie is what made it his best movie.

One of the best artistic renditions of the "live and let live" attitude that is at the heart of the traditional American ethos.

Clint Eastwood Interviews edited by Robert Kapsis and Jathie Coblentz talks about this. Eastwood knew he had gold with Chief Dan George, and also the story, written by a Cherokee poet. It's a great read...the interviews. Clint knows his shit.

The dialogue in this scene is second-to-none, and contains so many timeless principles.
