I work in the oil and gas industry and I wish there was more “detailed” info about the equipment used. I would loved to know what pressures they were hitting at 12km, what weight mud they used, bits, etc... I could go on forever. Currently the deepest oil well I know of that’s ever been drilled was the Keathley Canyon 102 which stopped at a vertical depth of around 10.5km.

Thank you for not even bothering to touch on the ridiculous "audio recording" from the borehole.

The nearby town of Koka has the biggest pile of dirt and rock you've ever seen.

Back when I was in College, my uncle (coal mining engineer) arranged a visit to one of the deepest coal mines in Germany. 1300 meters down, it was over 95 degrees. Tradition is that when you come out at the end of the shift, you sit round for a while drinking mineral water and schnapps to rehydrate. THEN you go to the shower. Saw some pretty awesome stuff down there. The scariest was the ceiling caving in about 20feet back from the mining machine. As the machine chewed away at the coal and advanced, they'd pull out the hydraulic supports in the second row back and place them right behind the machine. They did this to control the collapse. My wife was a geology student and was in hog heaven, My uncle had had guys putting aside fossils a week before. We musta schlepped about 60 lbs of rock out of that mine.

Kola Superdeep Borehole also helped confirm plate tectonics. Can't remember the details, but the way the rocks were layered or something coincided with predictions made about what they would be like if plate tectonics were true. Also while we haven't gone inside the Earth, there are places where we've SEEN inside it. The crust isn't really a perfectly sealed outer layer. Mostly, but there are a couple gaps that have opened up now and then where the mantle is visible.

Great video, when I was 9 it went 'viral' on local websites that they *actually* stopped digging because they got to hell. Keep up the good work!

I will be quite honest from your older content to the newer you have stayed quite consistent in the way you narrate and direct your videos. quite nice

TIL There was actual science that came from this big hole!

Mysteries of the Abandoned has done a spotlight on this, and it’s seriously impressive how deep they were actually able to go.

With our current technology and now knowledge of that depth I think we can go FURTHER.

Man, I don't know how long I've been watching these videos, but they are some of the most interesting I've seen. I always see them when they're just out, and its always when I'm really bored, and it cheers me up with a little bit of general knowledge. Which hopefully will come in handy if I even end up on who wants to be a millionaire and they ask me what the capture of Guam was about or what is the name of an abandoned resort in cypress. Hopefully I will have an advantage.

More like Superdeep Bored Hole, cause the hole's not having any fun.

You should do a video on Eastern State Penitentiary.

To name a few more interesting things: ekranoplans, flettner aircraft, nuclear ramjets (project pluto) and the Auguste Piccard (PX-8), the NASA AD-1, McDonnell XF-85 Goblin. I like my planes (and submarines).
