Fuji's BEST Prime lenses? These three are my favorites.

Fuji's BEST Prime lenses? These three are my favorites. When I first started with the Fuji system I had to sell my whole Canon system or part of it just to get started. So I researched what the best lenses would be for the type of photography I do. I intended to still do some photojournalism on the side but wanted to start doing more landscape work. This meant size, weight, and cost were part of the equation. This is why I went with Fujifilm. I borrowed a complete set of lenses to go with the X-T3 I had rented. This included two of the lenses I mention here, the 16mm f1.4 and the 90mm f2.0. I used these lenses quite a bit that week along with the 16-55 which I loved but it was really heavy. I did more research and when I bought gear I started with the 16 f1.4 and the 90 f2.0. As far as primes go I would stack them up against anything in the Canon, Nikon, or Sony range. They are beautiful. I also borrowed the 23 f1.4 from my friend but even though the results are beautiful the size, non weather sealed, and slow focus through me off. So Instead I went with the much smaller, lighter, weather sealed and fast focus 23 f 2. It's easily one of my most used and favorite lenses.

It is so nice to hear you say that you bring a camera with you everywhere you go. You are truly a photographer. 😊

I have xpro3 with the bare minimum 23mm, 16mm and the 35mm. A small bag that holds it all. They are light and fast enough for my photography. I come from a Nikon system with way to much stuff and I am so happy to be able to concentrate on a smaller set up with fantastic results. I have been shooting for 50 years and my best is yet to come!

I have the 16mm as well, but went with the f/2.0 due to its small size and weight. LOVE that lens. And I also have and agree with you on the 23mm and 90mm lenses. Tack sharp and also relatively small and light. And you will love the 50mm as well, which I also have. I'm using a Zeiss 12mm for my real estate listings shoots, another great lens, and for my "normal lens" shoots I have the Fuji 35mm. A while back I sold all my Nikon mirrorless gear and switched to Fuji. Very happy I did....

I had the 23mm f2 and sold it because it was soft up close. I'm amazed at the close up picture you got of the rope. That looks fantastic.

Nice selection, Kirk. I've been looking at these choices for my primes. Particularly the 24mm f2 and the 90mm f2. Thanks for the excellent review, and don't drop those babies! ; )

Great video Kirk! I recently jumped into the Fuji game with an X-Pro 2 and two lenses, a 16mm f1.4 and a 90mm f2 and I'm having a blast with the lightweight setup. This video reaffirms my decision.

Excellent pictures - I fully agree on the 16mm 1.4 and the 23 mm 2f - i do not have the 90 mm but would give it a try for the reasons you mentioned - thanks for the excellent video

I have many of the lenses you talk about, the 35 f2 is one of my favorites and may be my sharpest ✌🏻

Good review. My headphones were busted but, I went with it silent with closed captioning and it came across fine. I think you convinced me to pick up the 23 f/2. Thank you for that.

That's a great line up for sure. You have made some really great shots for this video, congratulation ! I'm fairly new to Fuji system and I bought my very first prime lens the 33 f1.4 since then all I want is prime lens, so much fun! f2 series are really worth considering. Thanks !

Interesting video. I too am a big fan of the 23f2. And am looking for a used 50f2 for a holiday gift for myself. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Love how real your videos are, I haven’t used my 16mm 1.4 much but after seeing what it can do indoors and in low light I’m super excited to go shoot some more. Buying the 90mm F2 for concert shooting from the crowd (no pit access yet) which I think it will be perfect for. Agree with someone else that I found no need for my 23mm after I got the x100v.

I really appreciate how you are comparing those lenses and always show pictures to give substance to your claims. One can easily understand why you like them. I own and like all three btw. but my favourite is the old but unique 1.4/35mm not on your list. That one is a worthy contender for the title of a Fujilux, if you ask me.

Kirk- So glad I found this video! Great enthusiasm and advice! It definitely fires me up to go shoot. Tack sharp on your photos. I'll have to listen again to get the name of the place you bought your lenses from. I may have overlooked it below but I'll locxate it! Again, Thank you!

I found the 23mm f2 images to be the best in this video giving 3d effect. I like to have that effect where you feel like you can just jump into the shot. Whenever I see images with normal lens giving 3d effect it reminds me of the Fisher Price 3D View Master my dad got me when I was small. I still have it back at home and I love it 😍

Boy, I agree Kirk, the 23mm Fujicron is great. I have one bag devoted to the X-Pro 2 with the 16mm f 2.8, 23mm f 2, 27mm f 2.8 pancake lens, the 35mm f2 and the 50mm f2 and lastly the 90mm f2. Wow what a great set of glass!
