From vaginal dryness and infections to pelvic pain and changes in smell, there are many common issues which affect the vagina during menopause, but there are also some less common and unexpected ones which you also need to be aware of.

This week I take a look at four of these unexpected vaginal problems, explaining why they can occur during menopause and what you can do to help ease them.

With the low carb, drinking lots of water, and jogging everyday and lifting weights mine came back to life. I'm so happy now

Lichen Sclerosus. You need to talk to women about Lichen Sclerosus. So many women are misdiagnosed! It’s insane how uneducated our medical professionals are in regards to this condition. It can cause vulvar cancer if not addressed. So very common in menopausal women. It took 2 years for my diagnosis, but some women go decades! :)

Thank you you are an angel. I am a registered nurse and I have had this problem ever since menopause. I am now 70. None of my doctors have a clue about. The basic they know is bladder infection or yeast. Water hurts me it causes me to dread taking a shower. I like to be very clean. I have some incontinence this year and it has been maddening. I started using a light vinegar and water to wash with that has helped tremendously and didn’t stop helping until I became partially in continent that I had to wear a pad or a pull-up which tore my skin out so much I can no longer use the vinegar. But I would highly recommend it if you have no broken skin. I used it for two decades. I also drank it in my water to prevent bladder infections. I’m very small and my vagina is very close in proximity with my rectum and Urinary meatus. So the vinegar gave back the bacteria I have lost through menopause and hysterectomy. I think you so much I have really gone through it all down this last weekend given me so much help and help. You are the first person I’ve heard sensibly talk about it in great depth. The doctor should all have a course on this. I appreciate you so much . I pray God‘s blessing on you so that you can help many more women who I’m sure are desperate. When it first started happening to me I could not understand why every time I took a shower or every time I urinated I was burning in my vagina a terrible pain and discomfort that was hard to explain. You have explained it and I thank you.

Omg I just found your channel! Thank you!! The information you share regarding peri menopause, menopause, & all the sensitive things we women go through but too embarrassed to talk about!! A lot of the stuff u mentioned in your videos I personally experienced but didn’t know and thought it was internal illnesses such as kidneys, liver, GI or some sort! Quick question on vaginal/vulva itching: I been using over the counter vagisil cream to alleviate the itchiness...is this good or bad? It’s been helping and I only use when needed not all the time.. any advice helps thanks

I suffer with vulvadynia. An estrogen ring and Cymbalta have controlled my symptoms. At any time when I've over exerted myself, my symptoms will flair up. I've found that laying down and resting, sometimes for just a short amount of time, calms the nerves, thus the pain is alleviated. Vulvadynia can be treated and daily life can continue.

It's my first time listening to you and I'm glad I found you. I found your video Informative and very clear and structured, thank you. I wonder if you have done a video on prolapse which is so very common in these particular ages (50 and above). If you haven't, could you consider doing it?

No one has mentioned the thyroid. I boosted iodine intake. Wow what a hormonal transformation in lubrication

Please speak on Lichen sclerosis. Many women are suffering this. The soloution is a simple steroid ointment but gynos are using this as licence to remove vulva flesh, and more. That itch may not be thrush. Demand answers, ladies.

seabuckthorn oil - for external or internal use? (3:27). . . as a lubricant, I think you mean coconut oil not coconut butter? (11:15). . . btw, it would be nice to be able to see your eyes!

I use Slippery stuff lubricant daily and with dilaters at night. It has cured my discomfort 100 percent. I had vaginal atrophy. I am seeing a uro gynecologist. She tried to put me on Clobestal on the outside and Interosa on the inside. Did not continue past 13 days. Did not like it at all. I read on a forum about using the Slippery Stuff and that tip was a Godsend.

I'm 60 and was very dry . My Dr gave me vagifem supposities every 3_4 days. And I use dr.woff moisturiser. I use internally and ex ternary. I do this every 3_4 days too. And fter listening to you I've started taking sea buckthorn oil tablets. And drink lots if water. If I don't do any off these I'm nearly crying with pain
. It feels like my vagina is stuck together and passing water takes long, I'd I don't use these.
Is there any thing else I.can do?
It's horrific. And it's took me years to sort this out.
The dr woff is £15 per tube .
Its expensive for me.
Is there anything cheaper?
Thanks so much Eileen
