Thanks, Carl. I looked at Day One a bit when trying to pick a journal app, but I settled on Journey as it was nicely cross-platform. I've been using Journey as my journaling work app for a couple years now. I really like that I can go back (using labels and search words) to see how I did something. For example, I needed the command line for the steps in updating my webserver's SSL certificate and it was right there. Great for meeting notes and whatnot too. I just wish that they had not taken out the ability to use Markdown to format the text. Tis nice to be able to put source code in fixed font, etc.

I want to let you know; I've re-subscribed the Pro & Premium accounts of Todoist & DayOne because of you, haha.
Thanks so much for continuing to create useful content 💕

This is lovely thanks. Didn’t realise how useful such an app could be till now. It’s like an old school diary but with all the added bells and whistles that only software can offer.

As a bullet journaller for years, I can absolutely see the benefit of this app! Thanks😊

Morning and evening routines are maybe the only parts of my life, I am not tracking at all. I think it's not necessary and I use this time to disconnect. I am connected the whole day. So in the morning - I drink a coffee, when I like to drink one. 😃 But, still a great video. I love DayOne. Since 10 years I have some entries there. In total 5273 entries! Starting with a Journal of my son, a plane ticket journal, unsent tweets (🤭), a Travel Journal and of course a personal journal - everything I add to DayOne. A truly great app!

Thanks, excellent post Carl. That idea of using Day One App like this helps me a lot. I have been using the Bullet Journal, but in preparation for the Post COVID world I have been transitioning to a 100% digital management system, I have been using Day One App for years and from now on I will make a template like yours I'm sure will help me a lot in this transition.

Carl, thanks for reminding of this app. I subscribed months ago. Not yet migrated into my toolbox. The template solution is a great idea. Will give work on a template format that will work for me.

Thanks for this Carl. Great ideas there. I use DayOne for a journal for my son, but never thought of using it for morning routines. Will give that a go. Thanks!

I am having a hard time figuring out how to create a "fancy template" like those you are making on my Mac. Carl, can you do a little video on how to create those?

Hi Carl, I like to keep it simple. I use Google Calendar (as my calendar + journaling, because you can add text and photos), Google Keep for my to-do lists (connected with my calendar) and Evernote for everything else. I don't see the reason of adding more apps like DayOne (that I used in the past). I tried a lot of apps, but I always come back to Evernote (or Notes in your case) and my calendar + to-do list. Only 3 apps. Nothing else is worth extra costs. Everything you do in DayOne can be done in Evernote/Notes or a calendar app.
Thanks for your interesting videos.

Thanks for the idea. What is the benefit of using something like Day One vs. capturing this information in Evernote or OneNote?

An other 2 similar apps on iOS / Mac are “Journey” and “LifeCraft” - used DayOne from beta, but currently using LifeCraft.

I decided to revisit this episode having watched it a few months ago. Gotta a lot more out of it this time. I am a Day One subscriber. However, rarely use it. You have given me incentive to realize a return on my investment. Morning routine using custom Template is a fabulous idea! I have two questions - "Are you setting up the current day's morning routine the night before? Or, doing it 1st thing the same day? Do you have a ToDoist task reminding to populate the Day One template? Videos that make you think are the best teaching tools! Thanks Carl!

Hi Carl,
Have you tried using the notion? Recently I switched from todoist and evernote and so far enjoying notion a lot.

I only wish they would make either an online "app" or a desktop app for Windows :( But it seems really good!

Do I understand ist right, when I guess that you do your morning routine journaling in day one app? I actually use a paper notebook for this and I think about switching.
