Canadian Brass with the Boston Pops and John Williams - Full Video Performance - 1983

In the early 80’s the Boston Pops live TV appearances were about the best place for a classical crossover artist to be seen and heard. The viewership was immense, and the Pops Orchestra being led by John Williams was an amazing time in the orchestral world. By this time Canadian Brass was already well known for its obligatory entrance music from the back of the concert hall. The Pops concert gave us an unusual opportunity, being on the second part of the programme after a commercial break made it seem our slow “Closer Walk With Thee” entrance would not match the enthusiasm of the live audience. So we came up with a terrific alternative — we had just released our “We Are The Champions” recording and realized the title tune from Queen would be a perfect fit. We called out to our master arranger Sonny Kompanek to create this epic combination of Canadian Brass and Orchestra! This appearance definitely qualifies as another important event in our long list of “DEFINING MOMENTS FOR BRASS,” having taken place with great excitement and critical response from our TV watching fans and friends.

Ronald Romm & Fred Mills - trumpets
Graeme Page - horn
Eugene Watts - trombone
Chuck Daellenbach - tuba

I remember watching Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops during the early 70's...the Grand Canyon Suite was a classic.

We saw Canadian Brass in Stuart, FL a number of months back- fantastic show! My daughter is a trumpeter and insisted! After the show she got to meet all the members and they were as nice as could be to her. It was a great experience for all.

John Williams is fantastic conductor with of course, The Boston Pops Orchestra. The best brass of all time is our wonderful Canadian Brass. Heard them initially in our fantastic City of Toronto. Don't you love Canadian music--Fantastic. I'm biased of course being Canadian from birth in Montreal.

Жаль, что не называется имя оранжировщика звучащих произведений. По моему, это несправедливо!
