The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Isn't A 'Tesla Fighter'... It's Better...

Some of you might think that making a solid EV sedan in the 21st century is the textbook definition of "great landing, wrong airport," but for anyone interested in high efficiency, low emissions driving, the Ioniq 6 might just be the ultimate EV. With over 300 miles of range, swift 0-60 times and wicked fast charging, the only real issue with the Ioniq is... It's unclear how the NACS transition will impact living with the Hyundai until Tesla rolls out more V4 Supercharger stations...

Huge props to Hyundai for making a car in a time where every manufacturer is switching to crossovers. Also the fact that it actually has an interesting design is a bonus.

Honestly Alex, I've watched tons of your videos over the years and you are so thorough that I rarely have a question about the car after watching one. That's what sets you apart from most of the 60 billion other people doing car "reviews" on YT.

Anyway, my personal experience-- I just got an Ioniq 5 (Limited, AWD) in late January. Very happy with it, but I seriously considered the 6-- LOVE the styling and the extra bit of range. Ultimately, I went with the 5 because I wanted a hatch and preferred the 5's more open interior and massive sunroof (but with a shade). Also, there was an extra $2.5K in rebates on the hood on the 5 ($10K total) for being a Chevy Bolt owner, which was not available on the 6. Still, my neighbor around the corner bought a 6, and yeah, I'm a tiny bit jealous (though his is RWD, so not really).

Obviously I can tell Alex is a good supporter of Hyundai/Kia. Nothing wrong. And I bet Hyundai/Kia will bring out an improved battery and face lift the Ionic 5, EV6 in 2025 which makes them even better.

would love to hear thoughts on this vs. the REFRESHED model 3 for 2024. i think it cleans up any of your gripes and offers better charging in the real world (infrastructure, speed in practice and route planning)

This car would be absolutely perfect for me! I just have a paid off prius that is still solid. But when I look for my next car, this one will definitely be on my short list!

The Hyundai route planning software uses the driver’s selected maximum state of charge setting to determine how high to charge at each stop. If you set it to 80% it will always show going to that percent SOC. Not the best route planning.

A Camry or Accord with last 15 years with good maintenance. How long with that pile last?

Love my 2024 Ioniq 6 Limited RWD. With 10k off price, 7500 tax credit, 2k california rebate and 2 yrs of free DC charging. This car is amazing, used to drive 2021 Lexus ES and this one is as confortable, I was aiming for the AWD model but got a best deal on mine. But after I drive it. Don't really needed the AWD this one has plenty of power for anyone needs.

I'm glad Hyundai isn't going bonkers with the sunroof. Why EV makers insist on these huge glass canopies that make the vehicles hotter and require more energy to cool is beyond me.

Picked up a ‘24 SEL AWD last month. What a great daily driver!

Yes, no tax incentive, but Hyundai is lopping $7, 500 off the cost to remain competitive because of that. I was going to get a hybrid vehicle, but the cost for the Ioniq 6 got so close, I chose EV, instead. I was going to grab a ‘23, as they had even more incentives, but there was a stop sale due to a recall. Because of that, the dealer gave me even more off on a ‘24. My car’s MSRP was $50K and I got it for $39K.

Lots of car for that amount of money! It has so many great qualities, as Alex covered excellently, of course.

Love this car. Purchased the 2024 SEL RWD Matte Gold for $11, 000 off ($7, 500 manufacturer rebate, $3, 500 dealer discount) at the end of January 2024. Am getting 4.1 mi/kwh in mixed driving thus far

Almost got one of these last month but decided on an Ioniq 5 Limited for only $300/mo, deal of the century! Also if you set the AC/DC max charge limits to 80% then the navigation route planner will give better/faster charging stops!

I really wish this vehicle had a liftback/sportback. The deals on this are crazy, but the Ioniq 5 also has crazy deals and I'll gladly take the range hit for the extra practicality.

The right direction. Instrument cluster. Controls on the dash. CarPlay. Decent handling. Efficiency. Need smaller and cheaper. Waiting for a replacement for my GTI.

I love my Ioniq 6. Purchased 24 limited in Dec. Smooth, fast, quiet ride. Just wished the speakers were better but love my car. EV charger installed at home too. EV life is awesome.

What an amazing video! Really! So much info, so much comparisons, so many opinions not being biased.

I bought the Ionic 6 AWD ultimate package one week ago and I could not agree more with everything you said and it gives me joy to hear so many good things about the car I just bought!

Maybe it's just me but it looks like a Porsche from the front but an Infiniti J30 from the back

BTW there is a SNOW mode when you hold the mode button down. It evens out the power between the 2 motors, reduce regen to level 1 and the traction and stability is truly impressive ( I live in Quebec...) You loose about a third of the range in -15 weather. Cheers
