It wasn't a fight, Street dog was telling your dog to back off. It was unsure of your dog approaching because street dogs and pet dogs are two completely different social blah blah stuff.

Street dogs fight first and ask questions later. Pet dogs, ask questions then establish hierarchy and then probably fight.

At the end of the day, no matter where you are in the world. Put your dog on a leash.

But sniffing is how dogs say hello to each 😮, it's learning their scent. It's a normal thing for dogs to do and has nothing to do with aggressive behaviour
