STOP Using Extended ISO (ISO 50)

I used to use ISO 50 all the time, as it was the lowest my camera could go. I thought this would give me the sharpest images with the least amount of noise. After doing some testing and research online, I realized I was totally wrong!

Extended ISOs are great when you really need them, like when you need to capture less light, but you're better off at your camera's base ISO when possible.

No, the difference won't be major, but if you have the choice, wouldn't you rather capture sharper images with less noise?

You have THE BEST tips and videos. I love your format. No nonsense, easy to follow!

All extended iso does is push or pull the gain on the native iso of the sensor. If you reduce the gain (going lower than the lowest native ISO) you lose dynamic range, especially in shadows); go above the highest native ISO and you lose shadow detail and add unnecessary noise.
