i was thinking of doing this for a 55" TV mount so i can drywall over it. i imagine this is sufficient for up to 60lbs of tv/mount weight?

Thanks Kevin! I have a little house from the 20's, I need to replace the cold water valve in the 3 handle shower/bath, I've cut a hole in the drywall to access the plumbing from behind and have found a 2x6" stud wall block that is in the way. Can I cut the Blocking and remove a section to get it out of the way so I can work?? Thanks David

Thank you so much. That's what I'll do. However the drywall is already there. Should I cut a rectangle in the wall to accommodate this bridge. My tv is 65".

Is 3/4" plywood strong enough to deal with an articulating mount that can be 650/750mm from the wall holding a 40lbs TV? It would be easier than trying to install a bunch of solid blocking since I don't know 'exactly' where things will be height wise at this stage.

What kind of wood do you use, pressure treated for bathroom areas ? Any advice for metal stud wood blocking?

Thanks for posting! What is a ripper block?

I'm assuming the first backing block is thicker and would press against the pipe?

Is there a danger of penitrating the lines when installing the fixtures?

A 2x4 is 3.5" deep. If you use 1.5" mounting block and .5" OSB on both sides you're at a total of 2.5". I don't see how you account for the extra 1" space between the future sheetrock. Can you explain?

What happens if someone inadvertently puts a screw where that copper pipe is?

might want to add some sort of sheet metal to the rear side to prevent overpenetration and piercing that water line

You need to protect the pipe behind the block so nobody drills thought when installing the fixture

What if someone was having a bad day and the screw of the sink was long and it reached to the pipe !

It was obvious you didn't measure your "half inch back" for the ripper blocks because your OSB isn't flush with the studs. The drywall is going to be attached to the studs, of course, but there's no reason not to have the OSB flush with the studs. Not the end of the world but attention to detail is important.

Otherwise, thank you for the demonstration -- especially the part about encountering obstructions in the wall. Good idea!
