I CHEAPED out with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D... and it was AMAZING!

PC Gaming on Ryzen 7can be done with the BEST value, and today we find just that, coupling the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with a $25 Cpu cooler, 3600Mhz DDR4, b550 and then putting it to the test against the i5-13600K and fitting both outfits with an RTX 4090. Intel vs AMD hasn't been this good for a long time in the tech space. Though do you really need to spend that extra with either outfits? (also sorry for late review today).

the 5800x3D represents the pinnacle of AM4 for gaming. upgraded my 3700x for it a month ago. And DANG. it felt almost as tangible as my upgrade from a 1070ti to a 3080 two years ago. A fitting sendoff for such a legendary socket.

When I've bought the 5800x3D I've paired it with an RTX 3080ti and it works like a charm with everything at max settings in all games, using an AIO CPU cooler H100i Corsair, so yeah...I'm happy with my purchase, love your channel!

I put a 5800X3D into my Asus X470F the other week, and whilst I expected it to do really well in sim racing titles, I was still blown away when I ran the benchmark in Assetto Corsa. At high settings @4k with graphics enhancing mods, I was getting ãn average of 60FPS with my 2700x, with the 5800X3D I got 145FPS! And it showed me (despite being 4k) my 1080Ti was bottlenecked by the 2700x, it is now the GPU that is the bottleneck. Roll on 7900XTX!

The fact that the cache is so massive means if you skimp on the RAM you have less of an impact on performance. Also the fact that it doesn't overclock (mostly) means you can get away with a basic motherboard that only has the features you need and nothing else. Then you can take any money you save and put it towards a GPU.

You pushed me over the line i just ordered one. I was thinking about AM5 for a new build but comparable frame rates for hundreds less can't be passed up. Appreciate the video.

Love to see the budget vs expensive build benchmarks, and great to see the 5800x3d performing so well. I wonder how the Asus bios managed to get so much more performance out of the 5800x3d in some tests

The Ryzen 7 5800X 3D I think is kinda like the GTX 1080ti of CPU's, truly ahead of it's time when it comes to raw gaming performance (Considering it is punching above it's weight vs DDR5 CPU's while using DDR4) and on AM4 (An almost 5 year old socket on it's last leg), I personally went with the i5-13600K because it's more recent and I stream while gaming so the e-cores will help a bunch there and for video editing etc. Buying into AM5 would've represented a bigger investment and Idon't have that money, people say oh 13th gen is on a dead socket already but I don't upgrade every year, in fact my current cpu is the i7-9700, I have an RTX 3060, it slightly bottlenecks the 3060 performance at 1080p, but the main reason for upgrading is because I stream and it's struggling to deliver decent frames in the game I play since it's CPU bound.

Great thing about the 5800X3D is that it's not affected by lower IF clock as much as the other ZEN2/3 variants thanks to its massive cache. So ZEN/+ users can probably just swap the CPU and enjoy higher fps without worrying about upgrading their DRAM.

The 5800X3D is the last upgrade for many early AM4 adapters. It's the 3rd and last CPU in my current rig that I've build in 2017. The best thing is that it performs just as well on an old x370 board, hardly any difference with newer, much more expensive boards. Think I paid 160 euros for my Asus Prime x370-pro and it's still going strong. Crazy value!

Just upgraded my Ryzen 3, 3100 & GTX 1650 4gb GPU to the 5800X3D & 3070Ti, such a huge difference! Great prices too

What a way for AMD to finish off the AM4 line!

Took their latest mid-range CPU and turn it into an absolute monster in gaming, able to compete with both Intel's and their own flagships in game performance!

All that while barely changing the cost and power consumption

I'm using my 5800X3D in an Asus Prime B450-PLUS mobo and all the components are running cool and fine, and has no performance issues.

I recently bought a Ryzen 7 5800x3D paired it with my B350 Tomahawk with a 2666 MHz ram, insane performance uplift, I upgraded from Ryzen 5 1600. TOTALLY worth it. I would recommend it, this CPU is just a BEAST.

I'm not surprised at all about how the rtx 4090s sold out so fast, as there are other buyers besides gamers and miners. For example The 3D industry which was accustomed to quadro cards slowly got around to using the 3090, which is a powerhouse for 3D in a relatively cheap price. I'm sure a lot of those studios unhesitatingly upgraded to the 4090, time is money, and those cards double their performance over the 3090 in 3D rendering.

I bought the 5800X3D because of the costs to jump on the AM5 platform, the motherboards especially . Saved me a fortune and will still last years at high end

Thanks a lot Brian for checking this out. The 3d chip is awesome for gaming with cheap ddr4 ram which is what most people are getting. The great thing is that you can get 64gb ram for the price of a ddr5 kit. As always, love your work.

Didn't end up purchasing the R7 5800X3D, but ended up getting a R7 5700X. I used the remainder of the CPU budget to top up my graphics card budget, which got me a Sapphire Pulse RX 6750 XT, because the card was discounted until it was similarly priced with a RX 6700 XT from the same manufacturer.

Yeah, I bought mine about a month ago. Prior to that I was on a 5600X from day one. I've gone thru 2 gpus, Vega 64, and 5700XT. I am now on a Sapphire Toxic 6900XT LE. It was good with the 5600X, but the 5800X3D was a generational uplift in my games. Just like you've shown very close or beats current 7000 series cpus in gaming. I will be on AM4 for at least another year. I am waiting to see what Zen 4 3D V-cache brings to the table and at what price.
