Cimarron - Reno, Nevada

Cimarron is in the northwestern part of Wingfield Springs, a smaller community within the city of Sparks. Cimarron is a master-planned residential community that began developing directly north of and at the same time as Red Hawk Golf and Resort in the mid-1990s. Red Hawk features two 18-hole golf courses, the Lakes Course and the Hills Course. Members of Red Hawk can enjoy an elite fitness center, an events center, David’s Grill, and The Villas at Red Hawk. The Villas are a unique lodging experience overlooking the Lakes Course.

Many great shopping centers surround Cimarron throughout Sparks. South of Cimarron is Pioneer Meadows Marketplace which has a Raley’s, Domino’s, Starbucks, and Gentle Dental Sparks. Spanish Springs Center is just a few miles south with delicious restaurants like Squeeze In, Pizza Baron, Los Compadres, and Sneakers. Sparks Galleria is the ultimate shopping center near Cimarron. The Galleria is packed with Costco Wholesale, Home Depot, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Ross, and Cost Plus World Market. More tasty food options around the center are Gourmelt, Tha Joint Sushi and Grill, Nikos Greek, Blind Onion Pizza & Pub, and Red Robin. Fitness Connection located in the southern end of Sparks Galleria, is one gym nearest to Cimarron residents. Eagle Fitness on Vista Boulevard and Los Altos Parkway is another fantastic option.

Del Cobre Park is a delightful neighborhood park inside the Cimarron community. The park consists of large grass areas for soccer, football, disc golf, and more There are also two playgrounds and multiple covered picnic areas. In the neighboring community Cimarron Highlands is Tumbleweed Trails Park which has two playgrounds, swings, and basketball courts. Lazy 5 Regional Park is southwest of Cimarron near Kiley Ranch. The water play park is the coolest place to be in the summer months. In the same lot as Lazy 5 Park is the Spanish Springs Skatepark, built for advanced and novice skaters. Spanish Springs Library is west of both parks.

Sparks Marina Park is an oasis near Interstate 80 and Sparks Boulevard. The marina is a popular feature of Sparks for Helms Lake, two beach areas, a fishing pier, a dog park, and the Sparks Marina Loop. The Outlets at Legends is a premier shopping mall east of the marina. The center is home to the only SCHEELS in northern Nevada, along with a Nike Factory Store, Target, Vans outlet, and Levi’s. Restaurants like Buffalo Wild Wings, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, and Jersey Mike’s keep the center busy. Across Sparks Boulevard from Legends is Wild Island Family Adventure Park. The park offers bowling lanes at Coconut Bowl, two minigolf courses, go-karts, and a water park.

Students of Cimarron begin at Van Gorder Elementary School of the Washoe County School District in the southern area of the neighborhood. Shaw Middle School is next for students, sharing Eagle Canyon Drive with the high school. Spanish Springs High School, home of the Cougars, is one of the newest schools to the Washoe County School District.
