Cimarron Highlands is a neighborhood of Sparks, Nevada and within the Wingfield Springs community. Just northeast of Red Hawk Golf and Resort, the single-family homes of Cimarron Highlands surround Tumbleweed Trails Park. This recreational area has large grassy fields, multiple picnic areas, two jungle gyms, a swing set, and basketball courts. Red Hawk Golf and Resort is a premier golf facility only three miles from Cimarron Highlands and features two challenging courses for guests. Del Cobre Park is another quaint neighborhood park inside neighboring Cimarron. Visitors can play a game of soccer in the parks’ fields or play on one of the two playgrounds. Lazy 5 Regional Park is north of Kiley Ranch Golf Club, next to the Spanish Springs Library. Lazy 5 is a popular retreat in the summer months because of its water play park and proximity to Spanish Springs Skatepark, the only recreational skate park in the area.

The Nugget Resort Casino is the largest casino and hotel located nearest to Cimarron Highlands. The Nugget Event Center and Nugget Ballroom frequently host live concerts and huge events indoors and outdoors. Victorian Square borders the northern side of the hotel and boasts several great restaurants, retailers, and services. The Square is also home to the annual Labor Day weekend Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off. The Outlets at Legends is an outdoor shopping mall with over 50 retailers. Among the shops of Legends are SCHEELS, Nike Factory Store, Vans, Burlington, and Target. Plus there is an IMAX Galaxy Luxury Theater. Before or after your shopping and movie day, enjoy a meal at Buffalo Wild Wings, Great Full Gardens, or Grimaldi’s Pizzeria.

Many more smaller centers with grocery stores, restaurants, and specialty stores are even closer to Cimarron Highlands. Pioneer Meadows Marketplace, named for the nearby neighborhood Pioneer Meadows, has a Raley’s plus more shops coming. Anytime Fitness has a location across from the center and there is an Eagle Fitness on the corner of Vista Boulevard and Los Altos Parkway. Fitness Connection is a large facility in the southern end of the Sparks Galleria. The gym is in high demand for its late-night hours and proximity to other stores in the center. The Galleria is home to Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Ross, Cost Plus World Market, the Home Depot, and Costco Wholesale. Sparks Galleria also has delicious restaurants like Red Robin, Gourmelt, Tha Joint Sushi and Grill, Nikos Greek, and Blind Onion Pizza & Pub.

Students of Cimarron Highlands begin at Spanish Springs Elementary School of the Washoe County School District. They then head to Shaw Middle School for two years before graduating on to Spanish Springs High School. Since its opening in 2001, the home of the Cougars is one of the largest schools in all of northern Nevada offering unique programs like Sports Medicine.
