Hate to call out LIFX but the last few months, my kiddos lights at the front of the house go unresponsive a lot more frequently. Been quite frustrating but hoping it’s resolved soon. Phillips Hue seems to be the gold standard for lighting, for me at least.

Great video. Super helpful info. I would add one item to the remediation list not mentioned here that has totally resolved one of my no response scenarios.

As background, I am using Eero pro 6’s with HomeKit security/integration enabled. Although, disabling that has never resolved any of my problems.

In my case my primary no response culprit was Meross devices. I had smart indoor plugs, outdoor plugs(2 models), and wall switches. All devices except a 3-plug outdoor switch would go from online after a reboot to no response in 10 mins or so. No issues ever with the 3-plug outdoor switch. All devices added to HomeKit and the network with the 5GHZ band disabled on the Eeros during setup (Eero forces one SSID).

In the end, the fix with Meross was to set a static IP address for each device in The Eero app. Done! Must have been some difference in that one outdoor plug model where this wasn’t required. Not a single No Response event since.

Almost gave up on my 40+ Hue lights and HomeKit. Long chats with Hue, resetting router/modem and even buying a new one. Resetting HomePod Mini hub worked a charm. Know what to do in the future. Thanks!

I usually can quickly troubleshoot when I get a no response. Tonight was the exception. I tried my normal BTS to no result. Then I remembered this video from a few months back and pulled it up. After verifying the home pod mini in my master bedroom was the connected hub I rebooted. All devices except my Ecobee thermostat are now connected and since I use their native app that is not an issue. Thanks for all you do!

I have an issue with HomeKit working almost fine in my app but in a family members HomeKit app every device shows unresponsive. Also their HomePod can’t control any of the devices in the home.

Just before this happening I started having issues setting an automation for my HomePod/bedroom light combo. I try to update the time and just get a spinning wheel 🤷🏻‍♂️

This video is so thorough. It blows my mind so many people have HomeKit issues yet so few people know how to trouble shoot it. Me included.

ive had my 5 homepods and now a mini homepod they randomly lose connection, i appreciate all your info…mini homepod loses connections less. in the past the only fix i knew was to reset through the wemo plug itself, ,,wemo app is not the problem i can still turn off lamps etc..through the wemo. it definitely was not the homekit.. i have an excellent wifi, but it was my wifi i disconnected and reconnected and it and it fixed EVERYTHING. thank you.

Good video, thx ! One thing I've done is add smart plugs to my homekit hubs and camera, I programmed them to turn off power during the night for 5 minutes, then turn back on (not all my hubs at the same time though), so I have them reboot every night. It reduced the number of camera not responding issues, but didn't eliminate them entirely...

Finally! I listened to you and unplugged my apple router and 'Bingo''; it worked! Thank you! 👏🏻👍🥂. However, it keeps freezing up and I have to repeat the process of unplugging the unit if I want to use it.

Great video Shane. I’ve had many of these problems, but hadn’t tried all of your solutions. The one thing I find annoyingly often is a device - mostly a light as it happens - that will work on my phone, but not my iPad (or vice versa) for a few hours, then comes good without any action by me. Sometimes, if it happens too often, I’ll ditch the light and buy a replacement. It’s especially annoying when I’m showing someone my setup 🤬

Hi @Shane Whatley, have you experienced No Response in HomeKit via Matter thread? I have this issue with my nanoleaf bulbs which I can see in nanoleaf app but in my Apple Home app it shows me "No Response".

Do you think we will ever be able to select the primary hub for HomeKit? No mater what I do, HomeKit always selects a HomePod mini even though I have a the newest Apple TV 4K hardwired.

Thanks so much for your important info. It has recently happened to me. All of them are not responding and I didn’t know what to do
I think it is a home kit issue
I tried to restart my router and it worked for a a little bit over the weekend, now it is down gain
And I am not even at home for fixing.
I will do a restart on my 2 home pods mini, thanks again Shane for your instructional video .

hello shane, it's a pleasure to join you. I'm new to hoobs. I just installed one. I have almost 100 shelly quotes and I thought it was easy just a shelly plugin to install on hoobs and it will work. booommm it was not like that. I'm a beginner I'm not an expert, first of all the devices work on a single action if you turn on you can't turn off. I searched everywhere, and I found that I have to uncheck something like igmp beamforming stuff like that. finally all sombler very well turn on turn off it's perfect. after a few hours I see no repence, nothing works. I see the router the IP address of hoobs is good .144 I type it on browser site inaccessible. I restart hoobs all function after a few minutes the same problem. I'm sorry it's very long and thank you very much for your help

I’m getting very fed up with HomeKit:

Before I use to walk into home and say “Siri I’m home” Siri use to welcome me and switch the preferred lights on. I use to say “Siri, I’m leaving home” and Siri use to wish me a good day and turn the lights off.

That’s not the case any more, all of a sudden Siris response has changed and no lights or scenes are triggered.

I have no time or patience to trace back the Automations to see what’s wrong.

Thank you - and restarting the hub working for me - the NO RESPONSE - is rare (once in 1 year) but the Apple people may need to dive a bit deeper - confidence is a key issue with HomeKit - loosing confidence would not be good! But, back in the game!!

Can you do a video on how to fix HomeKit if you change your Apple ID email? I changed my email and now my devices won’t respond.

What router do you recommend? About to move into 1700 two story home. I have been using one that internet provider supplies but now that we are going to have our own home with some smart devices I am going to purchase a new router. This is a great video that I will reference when I have problems.

Thanks for your thoughts - I just restarted my iPhone to get it responding on all accessories -. as they are all Philips HUE (Hub) connected I checked the Hue app first and they were all responding. So, it seems to be an Apple issue only.

I have been having this issue frequently since the move to iOS 15. Might have solved the issue today by resetting network settings on my iPhone. This is a pain because now I will have to re-enter all my wifi passwords, but if this fix sticks (so far so good) it will be worth it.

I actually had a rogue Wifi 2.4 device. One from Wize and another from Belkin Wemo. Switching to Lutron for switches and getting off 2.4 GHZ made my life a homekit pefection!! Also IOS and Homepod/APPLE TV version makes a huge difference. Beta IOS, TV OS, HopePod 16 combo will kill many devices. I submi tissues via Beta program often. People sometimes are lazy to submit issues. Do your part, Apple still not giving Homekit the type of love Steve Jobs would!
