At level 3 cooking you can make Fried Fish (this is an outdoor retreat recipe). It only takes 3 of any fish on the stove, and was accidentally coded with 0 calories. It's a group meal and is lactose free, and it's a great meal for simple living lot traits. My poor sims pretty much only eat fried fish to keep their figures.

Back when I had Wicked Whims installed, every day when Patchy would wake up to “help me with my garden, ” he would actually just go beat it in the shower instead. 😭 literally traumatizing

The first skill I always level up is Handiness skill !
- you can make good money once you reach level 5... that heart shape decoration thingy that you can do on level 5 (or 7?) sells for 500 simoleons a pop !!!
- you can upgrade ALL your aplliances to reduce water and electricity bills (yes please)
- you can also upgrade showers so you get clean quicker, or upgrade beds so that you sleep for less time ... that way you can pick your furniture and appliances depending on esthetic not comfort ...
- you can upgrade stuff so it never breaks !
Handiness skill is so underated !!!

I've been playing sims for years, and I didn't know about the permanent trait. These tips are very useful and appreciated. Thanks for putting out this video, I am sure a lot of new simmers are going to love the game now.

My favorite pro tip is : CLUBS (from Get Together).

You don't have to use clubs like it is a real life club, for example have a knitting club and club gatherings to knit from time to time. Use clubs like groups. Create friend groups with clubs, and when you want to invite people over, all you have to do is start a club gathering: it lasts for as long as you want and the sims won't leave until you stop the club gathering. It's also much easier to control the sims in a club. You don't have to create event or call people of after the other.

But the best part is to create a club for you household only, and you leave the club gathering always running. Then, in the club, you put useful activities to do or common interactions, such as: be nice, make jokes, clean, make food, sleep, repair objects, etc. Your club points will go up by themselves overtime and you will be able to eventually purchase all bonuses, which will make your sims build skills faster, just be happier overall (stronger moodlets), etc. They will also clean, cook and repair objects (for example) more often autonomously. It's honestly very strong and not enough people know about this trick.

Honestly now that I use clubs this way, I never wanna go back and couldn't play without Get Together ahah.

(I didn't come up with it btw, I found out about this trick watching Simsav, IDK if she came up with it but I don't think she did either.)

Can I recommend a short guide on customizing neighborhood stories? I understand a new player will probably be less overwhelmed with them completely turned off, but I actually like having the neighbors move around and have kids on their own since a big problem of long term gameplay is active Sims being the only ones with descendants. It would be helpful to know where the settings are for turning off death (which is way too common) and telling specific households not to move around. The settings are kind of buried in the households panel even for families accessible by clicking on a house.

honorable mention: go to the festivals (if you have city living) to harvest a dragon fruit, which you can plant and sell for A LOT

I always get my beginning gardening stuff from the gift items menu via a computer. You can purchase roses, pomegranates, potatoes, even seasonal packets of seeds that way for a bigger variety of options. It’s a little more expensive, but I can sell a counter or two for a rose or a pomegranate which will yield much bigger returns.

3:10 what I thought you’d mention too is to change the Sims’ aspiration to the gardening one when they’re gardening, to the painting one when they’re painting etc. It ensures you get aspiration points straight away.

I forgot to turn stories off. One of my kids I had moved out had triplet toddlers, then she called me and asked if she should try to have another baby and i said yes.. well when I went to her house to check on her she now has triplet toddlers and triplet infants. I agree strongly with turning neighborhood stories off. 🤣 Thank you for the tips!

I actually love the gremlins lot challenge. I often use it in the beginning (ideally in combination with a tiny house that has few appliances) to quickly boost the handyness skill (is that what it's called? I play in German so I'm not sure). Once I've levelled up quite a bit, I delete the challenge and play normally.

When I comes to gardening the one thing that annoys me is evolving everything one at a time. This is especially true when you have a lot of plants, packed close together and you have to try and figure out which one is glittering

my favorite trick now when I'm doing a gardener playthrough is to use seasons to create a "seed day" holiday with the only parameter being gnomes. you can easily Google what appeases each gnome and they'll give you dozens of free seed packs when you do so

Hey Satch, this comment does not have anything to do with the video. I just want to tell you that I really love seeing your Channel growing day by day. You do such a great work and you inspire me very much. I just want to say thank you for making each and every day of my life :)

Been playing for years, had no idea that the aspiration trait stays with you even if you change aspirations 🤯

The gardening tip is amazing. I made one family millionaires in a very short time span just off of a back yard full of dragon fruits. This was before I bought Seasons, so the growing time was always. Thank you for teaching me about Patchy!

I always put study spot on every lot. It actually makes every skill go up faster. Carls Sims found that in the code. It’s better than any of the other lot traits for skill building.

Gotta love how OP gardening is, especially in early game. You can even hire a gardener to take care of your garden for you and it's extremely easy to make enough money from the produce to pay for hiring them. Also, plants growing inside a building can be grown at any time regardless of season so you can build a big greehouse looking thing full of planters (either buy of craft them) and grow whatever plants you want all year.

May I just say, I've played Sims for over 20 years now and I absolutely love your videos. I watch a lot of other simmers but you're one of my favorites because your videos are short and to the point and you focus more on information which even as a "veteran simmer" I find so interesting. I know you started your YouTube because of Plumbella but I like that you've got your own thing going on, just as she has. I hope your channel continues to flourish and thank you for the amount of info and quick reviews you've given me.

As a long time sims player, it's actually very interesting to see how differently we prefer our gameplay!
I grew up on Sims 1~2, so I find the needs drain way too slow in the Sims 4, so the Aspiration traits are basically cheats for me 😆In the same vein, I would always play with Lot Challenges and Temperature effects; I always welcome more challenges (and more ways for sims to die).
I also love to have Neighbourhood stories because then my unplayed households will keep changing and it feels less "dead".
However!! Seems like we both agree on turning off aging on played sims lmao. Ain't got time to deal with the stress of mortality amirite. 💔
