Who would've thought that this small park in southern France would be home to an Intamin multi-launch quad bike coaster with a drop track? Random right? Especially considering its the only roller coaster here!

Definitely didn’t expect Coaster Studios doing this park 🤣 If you wanna try a similar park in France with a cool Intamin family coaster, then there’s the Futuroscope!

Vulcania is sort of like a museum with a mixture of exhibits and simulators and films. That trackless dark ride you missed is based around civilisations that worship volcanoes and also there is a simulator where you could vote on which natural disaster to experience. There is also a very new planetarium which is fantastic, incredible detail. The film essentially took you to the edge of the observable universe. I was there for a half a day, the same day as you guys and I wish I had more time to enjoy this unique place! :)

Vulcania seems to be more like a high end interactive museum. Those have become quite popular across Europe in recent years, we have several in Denmark where I'm from that are very similar, though mostly without rides. You even see it with older museums. Heck the Railway museum of the Netherlands has a dark ride with a drop track built in.

The most similar thing to this in Denmark where I'm from would probably be "Universe". A science educational theme park near the Danish/German border with a few rides, but as of yet, no roller coasters. An LSM launch coaster there would be great to teach kids and people about magnetism and give them a great ride in the process. Like Intamin has an off the shelf design LSM coaster with 2 launches and no inversions, around 70ft tall on their youtube channel, that'd be a perfect fit.

That's really really good for their only coaster.

This series has been the best. Thank you for this.

The park looks like this because of the situation. It is located in the middle of "volcano chain" (which was in reality one huge volcano from millions of year before) and since the location is a protected area, they couldn't expand with buildings. So it was built verticaly.
Sadly, it's mainly poor simulators and educationnal walktrough. But the real treasure of this park are the mountains around!

Next year, maybe consider making a tour starting at Europa Park for Voltron, Le PAL for the water coaster, and Walibi Rhône-Alpes for the single rail coaster!

Just a reminder that for non-enthusiasts it's really weird to spend money at a theme park and only be there for a few hours.

Fun fact: A stage of the 2023 Tour de france did start in this park

Yeah this park is more like an interactive museum than an amusement park, and the attractions are mostly aimed at younger people. It’s built on one of the chain’s 80 volcanoes

If I would work in a theme park, I would also be confused if people arrived only a few hours before closing time.

_Namazu_ appears to be named/themed for Ōnamazu (oh-nah-mah-zoo "great catfish") an earth yokai monster from Japanese mythology that manifested as a giantic black catfish.

Ōnamazu is believed to be sealed underground by the warrior god Takemikazuchi (Ta-kay-mee-ka-zoo-chee) bound under a great cap stone. Sometimes Ōnamazu is still able to move; causing earthquakes.

Other then the relation to earthquakes, it's a weird namesake for a rollercoaster in a French geological theme park. I blame weebs.

As a former foreign exchange student, Lyon as a city is beautiful. Too bad that you didn't get to spend too much time there.
