I wish we could stop banning books, and start banning child beauty pageants

If you’re more afraid of a book than a gun, ask yourself why.

When I was a kid, I could read ANY book in my dad's library, and there was a LOT of sexually explicit content in those books. And therefore: I learned a LOT. And I drew my own conclusions and made my own decisions. Parents who try to "protect" their children are just raising ignorant kids who are not allowed to form their own opinions about anything.

I'm german and I find it very disturbing that the US government starts to rigorously ban books. If you know german history, you know what's coming next 😬

Banning books is a great way to guarantee they'll become bestsellers

What does "supposed sexually explicit images" mean? Are they explicit or not?

It’s funny how conservative Americans will call gen z kids easily offended but they’re doing this

Just put it in the correct section of the library rather than outright banning it from school libraries. At a glance, this would be classified as either “mu” (13+) or “voksne” (adults) in Norway, and should be shelved accordingly.

why though, lgbtqia teens are already told they aren't normal we need this

Banning these books just gives you more incentive to read them 💀

The censorship of books by conservative Americans is distressing. Fahrenheit 451 was required reading in my High School and it’s becoming more and more relevant.

Let people decide what they want to read for themselves, they just need to put content warnings instead of altering or banning the books.

My english 12 class had me read 1984. This one, single required reading gave me more respect for my school than any other event in my life attending that school. It is a wonderful, thought-provoking novel. If your school doesnt make you read this book, or even worse **bans** it, I would be cautious of what the school and it's related staff say, and take it all with a grain of salt. Seriously, do yourself a favor and read 1984 before its message is banned.

As a German the idea of banning books, keeping the history of banning books in the German history in mind, such a shocking act. I can't really understand how its so easy to do such horrible things

This book and a few others was challenged in a town near where I grew up. People came to the meeting to oppose the book with guns and threatening to use them against the school if the book was allowed on the shelves. Luckily nobody got harmed and the book is available for the kids to check out.

I loved that book. If I’d had access to books like that in high school, I would’ve realized I was a trans man a lot sooner and it could’ve spared me years of pain, denial and addiction
