I like Connor's approach - but, as he said, the most important hint for testing is always "Just try it!" 🙂

I did the same test with 6, 148, 900 rows from dba_objects (110797 blocks) and it took 19 seconds. 🤔

APPEND is definitely fast, but if we run two thread in parallel then APPEND wont work. Anyways thanks for giving the benchmark :)
