Donald Trump picks JD Vance as his candidate for vice president

Former President Donald Trump has selected Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate for the 2024 presidential contest.

Vance was first elected to the Senate in 2022 after receiving an endorsement from Trump in a contested Republican primary.

Vance, who penned his memoir Hillbilly Elegy about life in Appalachia, once described himself as a Never Trumper, but when he was running for Senate, Vance later said that he regretted those comments and was a supporter of Trump.

Throughout this year's campaign, Vance has appeared on the trail with Trump and in support of him at various events across the country. He also traveled to New York City during Trump's hush money trial, where Vance spoke out vehemently against the charges that prosecutors were pursuing.

Vance has supported a nationwide abortion ban and even criticized exceptions for rape and incest. He actually said, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”
He has called Social Security and Medicare “the biggest roadblocks to real fiscal sanity.”
He said women should stay in violent marriages.
He admits he wouldn’t have certified the election results immediately on January 6 if he’d been vice president, and even said that he’s “skeptical” that Pence was in danger.

Best Trump can do ? Has a history of bad mouthing Trump then changed his tune with Pence out of the picture. His past colleauges say Vance did little in his business life. Trump may want to reconsider.

-Vance has very very limited experience.
-Ohio is no longer a swing state.
-DeWine is quite liberal and his replacement selection for Vance’s Senate seat will be a disaster.
