Here is a fact of life in Australia. 🇦🇺Australia enacted the National Firearms agreement in 1996 after port Arthur massacre which killed 35 people. More than a million firearms were destroyed and there have been just two shootings with more than five deaths in the 28 years since.

This kind of speech gives the idea guns are more important than students' safety. I used to teach preschoolers, and the thought of having "maximum security" at any school or daycare is unbelievable. Also, the newest gun control legislation by the administration was to reduce & control gun trafficking and letting them fall into the possession of certain individuals (domestic abusers, etc), not simply to take guns away from American citizens. Teachers, students, & parents are constantly worried about mass shootings but the Republican Party doesn't want to actually make any changes to reduce gun violence. More security is not going to solve these life threatening incidents.

You don’t even need to take away guns from Americans to dramatically improve the situation. A) you must have a gun license that comes with background checks. B) make it mandatory for people pursuing a license to go through classes on gun safety (this is a vetting process in and of itself.) C) Make it illegal in every state to improperly store your firearms. I live in Canada, we can own guns and this is what has worked for us. We have hardly any gun violence, and virtually no mass shootings. Although the gun culture in America is different and far too lax in my opinion.
