In this video Omar from Think Media shows you how to format a SD memory card on your camera. This works on canon cameras or any digital camera. Formatting SD cards is crucial for having the maximum memory available on your shoot. It's also great to protect your SD memory cards when they aren't in use.

I film simultaneously with 30 cameras for around 12 hours when I'm on location. I format each card in camera beforehand. Each camera is numbered and has a pair of numbered cards.

I didn’t know about formatting and now have an sd card that is basically its own being. I can edit the files on the sd card, but any copies of it are corrupted and I can’t use them. And I don’t want to lose those photos, just I had to just get a new sd card. I’ve just watched this video now so I know how to save my future work 😂 I took some cool pictures today and would be absolutely crushed if I lost them

I’m so glad I came across this, I was trying to film the other day but it was saying I didn’t have any storage when I had just transferred videos to my laptop. So in high school, my parents and I went on a cruise for the first time and took a ton of photos. Like the entire vacation was on one SD card. We get back home and a week later some family friends come and visit. My parents want to show them some photos from the trip. However, the day before our friends came over, I was checking out the camera as to what each option in the menu did (I was just starting to pick up more of interest in photography) and I hit the format button. I don’t know what camera it was, but I don’t even remember it giving a warning sign before erasing all the photos from the cruise AND MORE. Let’s just say it was a bad day for me 😂

I did a 11 day trip to Nepal and when I got home and put my card in my laptop none of my over 400 photos showed. Lucky with a recovery software download I got about 95% of them back so now I drop them the same day.
