Most empathic dog I’ve ever owned. Reads people well. Great with kids and most strangers. Wicked smart. Recognizes threats quickly. High energy. Powerful dog. Remarkable animal.

My Catahoula lived to 17. Amazingly intelligent, adventurous and affectionate. People would refer to my Catahoula as... "perfect". 75 pounds of pure power!

These dogs are outstanding for home security! If you live out in the country they are probably the best dogs to have around! Where you have a hog problem like in Texas and southern Arkansas, they are invaluable to have around. You are right about one thing, they are NOT stranger friendly. I have known about this breed most all my life and that is one thing I love about them...people had better not just "drop" by unannounced! These dogs are SO BEAUTIFUL with outstanding markings! I am partial to the ones with the blue eyes. Thanks for telling people about these GREAT DOGS!

My Catahoula lived to 17 until he sadly passed. They are the best breed ever .They are very much affectionate and need a big space to run. I grew up with them and I hope to die with them R.I.P Cane love you and miss you every day ❤️⚜️

I got mine from the shelter, the one in the profile picture he loves photos and is so pretty. He’s still being trained and he’s doing so good so far and we’ve interacted him as a baby baby so he does great with kids

I love my Catahoula! He came into my life by chance. I was fostering at a ranch I lived at and I just couldn’t give him up bc he was so cute small and sweet. Raised him up right and now he’s just my best bud. Thankfully my boy doesn’t do anything crazy other than beg for my love and hop into my lap and put his head on me and under my chin. I swear he is so empathetic and springy ❤🎉 I told my husband that I will continue to own one for the rest of my life bc of this good boy that I have now 😊

I've had Catahoula's since I was five, probably always going to have them and I have nothing but good things to say about this breed. Even though they the most hard-headed, loud and downright chaotic dogs, the breed will always hold a special place in my heart.

This breed was my first dog I owned when I was about 12, and she died only a few years ago. She was the sweetest and most patient dog I've ever known. She'd sit there and let me hug her if I was having a bad day, she'd always show her teeth to "smile" if she was happy to see me, and she always stood at my side. I miss her like crazy, and recently i've been thinking of getting another dog, and I was debating another Catahoula. I think I may just do that. :3

My boy loves people, dogs, and kids and is super friendly. That being said, I take him for regular walks/runs in off-leash dog parks and beaches where he can readily socialise with all kinds of dogs, and we regularly go to town specifically so he gets to experience walking on a leash in people-populated areas. He loves new experiences and is always happy to explore. I’ve had dogs since I was 17 and at 43 now, this is the most well adjusted dog I’ve ever had the pleasure to share my life with 🥰

I love my Catahoula. We are located in New York. I got her down in Louisiana. It took a little while for us to be on the same page in the beginning, now is my sidekick. Wherever I go my dog goes. I love this breed

My dad works cattle for a living and has only ever used catahoulas. Having grown up with them, I can honestly say they’re my favorite breed. Currently have one who randomly decided at the age of 5 to be an inside dog and has somehow actually pulled it off. He loves the couch and I guess he’s smart enough to know that if he does anything bad like get in the trash or bark at the cats, he ain’t gonna have access to the couch anymore. That being said, they do need A LOT of activity and you constantly have to be wary of what you leave out because they will absolutely tear up any/everything when they get bored.

I have a black dog with brown eyes. Looks like a smaller version of black lab. We've been trying to figure out what else she was mixed with until a friend suggested catahoula. Every catahoula I had seen at that point we're spotted. But I received her as a gift. This absolutely adorable black ball of fur could fit in my hand. But she had the attitude of a full grown bear. LOL. She wasn't mean but she's not afraid of ANYTHING. And I mean ANYTHING.. And that was before she grew up. She's the smartest dog I've ever had. We trained her on a pee pee pad in 3 days. She learned to fetch in 2 days but it only took one day to teach her to sit, lie down and roll over. The only thing she refuses to do is STAY Not that she's not smart enough, she just doesn't want to. She's extremely loving and loyal and definitely a Daddy's girl. I believe she would follow him into the pits of hell and would gladly take a bullet for him. She loves me very much too but not like she loves him. I'm truly happy about how much she loves him and grateful to have her in our life.

My wife who is a Veteranarian rescued a glass eyed Catahoula.
We’ve had him about 10 years now.
It’s not even a contest, this dog is by far the best all around dog I have ever known.
Definitely great with kids and other animals.
If I had to choose one breed then it’s this one.
Best rescue the wife has ever completed, , , , besides myself.

Love mine.
He is the most loving dog. Extremely intelligent, loyal and very protective
Excellent guard dog. He’s a rescue. The bio I received about him was very sad. He was abused and neglected by his previous owner.
He was so defeated due to his past experience. We bonded very quickly. And he is beginning to “trust “
❤️ people.

I have 2 wonderful Catahoulas they are 3 & 4 yo. We have 3 children and I couldn’t ask for a better breed. They love the snow, water, grass, as long as they are roaming around and noticed they are fantastic. Also get most of the attention at the beach by anyone who passes.

My female Catahula is almost 12 now and still darn active, trained her from a 2 month old puppy the smartest and gentlest dog I have ever owned, very possesive of me tho. Love her to pieces. :) All people love my dog for her looks and intelligence, lot of comments always.
