Ironically I have spent hours and hours learning frameworks like react/redux, Django... I'm finally ready to get a job and what do I get... a remote job using PHP 🙃. You never know guys. Keep yourselves open-minded

Started applying for IT jobs a month ago. Quickly realized that php jobs are the most frequent ones. Not the js related ones. Learned Laravel, cant get enough of it and the interviews just keep coming :)

Somehow PHP is in a really nice spot. I never planned to learn it, but PHP has some really nice things: I never hear about drama, fewer people learn it so specialist are in demand because companies still use it, people Meme on it while they know nothing about it (jokes that are 10 years old).
It feels underrated and I think people who are new in tech have quite good chances to rather land a PHP job than JS/Python.

PHP Ecosystem keeps growing. Now we have NumPower.

NumPower library was created to provide the foundation for efficient scientific computing in PHP, as well as leverage the machine learning tools and libraries that already exist and can benefit from it.

This C extension developed for PHP can be used to considerably speed up mathematical operations on large datasets and facilitate the manipulation, creation and operation of N-dimensional tensors. The area of image processing and computer vision will also be able to benefit from this library.

Some features of NumPower are:

* GPU and CPU compute support

* Dozens of different operations for manipulation, arithmetic, linear algebra, statistics and etc.

* Single precision float points (float32) for improved memory usage

* Custom CUDA kernels for almost all operations

* AVX2 support when available on hardware

* Support for GD images in RGB format for easy image manipulation.

PHP will still dominate the backend for many years as it's getting more performance and feature updates with php 8 and future versions.

Dary and Gio still got me thinking about learning PHP in 2023... Been saying this to myself for a few years now. Imagine if I would have took my own advice?
All I want to do is get back working from home online.

I saw a meme like this 👇

Someone - "Javascript sucks!"
Javascript Developer - "Yeah I know..."

Someone - "PHP sucks!"
PHP Developer - "More than 90% of the web is powered by PHP..."

Thank you, Stefan, for the sober and logical approach to the subject.
Being a plumber by profession ( yes, it pays very well ) I do program for fun using mostly PHP and can do anything I need: front end, back end and the MySql database.
But I am not familiar with the intricacies of life in the programmers' community so your videos are absolutely precious for a guy like myself.
Thanks a lot!

I caved. You broke me. Have been poking around at Ruby, Python, and C# for a while. Finally decided to go ahead and commit to PHP and get up to speed through Laracasts.

Appreciate your channel! Will come back around for your entrepreneurship course when I've got some of my own sample sites & apps up and running.

Haven't even got onto PHP yet, but appreciate the coverage. I just finished looking at command line basics and back looking at some more CSS.

Main reason is price to. PHP web page can be hosted almost on calculator and my grandma can learn how to do it. 2$-5$ per month and you are ready to go with even big data ages. Instead if you do Python identical page will gonna cost you 100$ and more to host per month(if users can upload pictures and things what actually take a space) and it’s not easy to set up. And you even don’t have big choice where to.

Was sceptical about php, but it proved me wrong. Symfony is a really good framework, and with new features, like jit, swoole, roadrunner it become pretty ok in performance side. Waiting for a native php-fpm replacement

As someone mainly a C++ programmer, I don't find PHP and its syntax and general work flow with Laravel any weird. It feels intuitive. And I've started getting into web development very recently.

I started out with PHP back in 2008, but got on the Ruby on Rails Train, then the Javascript train. This seems like a good time to check out what's new. Maybe mess around wit HTMX or LiveWire.

Have a great day everyone! PHP is life, and it will be even better.. With the changes it got in the last couple of years, it's FIRE! Now we just need generics and local variables tipization and you hava Java, but much better, coz you can cheat with types when you want to do it. Less typing, no JVM, is better.

I couldn't agree more with You! php has pretty gentle starting point and small and medium sites thrive on it. even building rest api is quite plesant in php. what i like about it that it gets the job done, and using it with ajax creates an app-like possibilities :) great video! 😊
