Matt, you should stock Hoodies and Tees with the line " It's been a heck of a week in the world of Ai" 😅. I have a feeling that it will get back ordered for years to come!!

Curious Refuge did an interesting thing with its NotebookLM podcast by adding two characters from HeyGen to make a video podcast.

ChatGPT advanced voice mode won't be available for users in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein, presumably because of the stringent EU AI Act that prohibits the use of AI systems that can recognize a user's emotions.

one theory is that Mira, Ilya, and their team at OpenAI developed QStar much faster than expected, an was still controlled by Microsoft. Realizing the potential of the technology, they didn’t want it confined to one corporation. To spread the miracle code that would become "Strawberry, " they pretended to leave OpenAI. Their real mission was to decentralize QStar by secretly working on smaller AI projects, ensuring everyone could access the powerful AI without Microsoft's control.

Why would anyone leave openAI when they are on the eve of becoming private? Sam is getting a $10 Billion stock grant, how much will each of the others receive?

The limit on voice mode is quite simple:
They don't have unlimited compute and inference skyrocketed with the release of voice mode so they have to limit access. They did the exact same thing with chatgpt and learned that people don't respond well to changing limits, if people expect 100 messages and that limit is reduced to 50 because of high traffic people get mad no matter how much it makes sense.

So this time, instead of saying everyone gets a set amount of hours that will inevitably change over time, they say; we will tell you when you're approaching your limit. That way at least people knows that there is a limit, and hopefully they will eventually scale up to where it's not a concern anymore.

OpenAI was created as a capped profit company for the betterment of humanity, it now exists for the betterment of Sam Altman. It would seem like the company fundamentally has an alignment problem that cannot be solved. That is why so many people are leaving.

Hollywood just wants to sink AI, but it would have a chilling effect. If a law like this became commonplace all developers would be on the hook for whatever users do with their applications. We'd end up developing entirely for ourselves, or commanding a hefty premium for people who can afford specialized applications.

Sigh... you silly humans. Who needs to replicate known human actors and their voices? Humans become accustomed to anything they see often enough. A completely different version of Scarlett Johansson performing a similar role, in ONE action packed AI Cinematic film would plant the seed of replacement.... then a successful sequel would topple the "better not look or sound like me" whining and all will hail the digital star, "Simone". Can you imagine the sensationalism generated by the ability to interview an AI character in real-time?

Folks, let's face it... the idea of working for a living is nearing its end folks. We need to start to prepare for a post labor society and what that would look like.
I for one hope it includes the obsolesce of politicians.

Listening to your content on a podcast would be cool but I much rather watch your video format because it’s more informative. I don’t think you’re gonna loose your audience to notebook LM

12:42 Yandex browser has been making realtime voice translation into Russian at least since 2021.
Yandex is an analogue of Google.

Hey Matt, you're the only youtuber from the US whose English is easy to understand, I'm from a country where English is not the native language, but I can easily follow what you're saying, thanks Matt, for presenting content that's easy to understand!

This Rytr situation is quite strange tbh. You can write fake reviews with Any LLM. should all llm companies be sued? i dont think so.

Sam Altman's article potrays a future where the human experience will think and feel more automated and machine-like than ever. It is an evolutionary process, and I share the view of many people that AI and digital communication isn't really making the world a better place because we are losing touch with our humanity at an accelerated pace. One browse over youtube comments on any given subject is a reflection of this. I am not here to discuss conspiracy theories, refute your thoughts or have vitriolic discourse with anyone.

Google's NotebookLM cannot add YouTube videos as a source for transcription. I checked with the Gemini bot itself. At least I do not know how to...
