Ex-Wendy’s employee here, Wendy’s is so damn clean that I’d eat off the floor in the back. The “Big” chicken sandwiches are frozen 100% real chicken. The beef is fresh, it comes in sleeves and the patties are separated by a small piece of wax paper. The salads are made fresh every morning, we cut heads of iceberg lettuce and mix in bags of “leafy spring mix” and cut everything but the Craisins and apples by hand. The chili is made with old cooked meat that didn’t get sold, it’s boiled, chopped up and mixed with a bag of seasoning, water, and frozen vegetables.

Are people really surprised by all this? Doctors and other health experts have been saying how unhealthy fast food is for years. Also, the whole processed part is not a surprise. We live in a processed world.

It’s been embedded into our minds from tv and print ads since we were old enough to see. Yellow and red to make a phone call to get something done and yellow and red as X marks the spot to eat. Blue backgrounds relax the cornea of the eye and blue backgrounds increases time spent on webpages by up to 10 more minutes compared to any other color. Facebook. MSN. Walmart. The top and bottom of 99% of computer home screens. Purple for home business passionate about their services and green for wood and outdoors work. Colors that business use is important and why logo design isn’t cheap since you’re embedding your image into people’s brains.

I drastically cut out having fast food a few years ago. I tried fast food a few months ago and couldn't keep it down. Never doing that again. As of this week, even Subway's tuna isn't real. I don't trust any fast food restaurant.

4:10 I worked at Taco Bell for a year as a manager. I once got a complaint from a customer that she found a caterpillar in her soft drink ( the soda fountains were in the dining area). Being the new guy I was sent out to see what was wrong and found that the dispenser nozzles were dirty from weeks of foam that had built up around them, and that it was this foam that had fallen into her drink (these nozzles are supposed to be cleaned daily). This gave me a clue as to the kind of store the then current general manager was running, which is why I only lasted a year there. The final straw was when the general manager assigned myself and one crew member to close the store, meaning it was just the two of us from 10:00 pm till 2:00 am. This might have worked had the crew member not walked out on me at about 11:00 pm as I was taking the drive thru orders and suddenly found myself alone with a line full of angry customers wondering why they couldn't get their late night munchies. I quickly put up a message on our automatic speaker that we had had 'mechanical issues' and had to close early for safety reasons while still trying to complete the orders of the folks that had been in line before the crew member had left. There's a reason Taco Bell is also called Taco Hell...
