Seeing music as more than just a way to entertain and move our emotions, Jonathan recounts his own struggles with stress and anxiety, and explores the potential of sound as a healing force.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I was innocently listening to this and replying to various comments, and suddenly at 16 minutes, when the chello played, I burst out in tears, thank goodness I was alone. it was most amazing, I must have been releasing a bundle of joy and passion. Montana skies thank you my friend.

If you got real Anxiety Issues read on.

The problem of anxiety is a habit of expectations. You are anxious because you are expecting something to happen. Habit of expectations is the real root of anxiety.

The cure however is very straightforward. Practice to have no expectations. For example when there is any event like job interview, going to an unknown place or whichever that gives you good amount of anxiety, this event will happen even if you are not present over there. And within those events you have only one thing to do, go there without having any extra imagination. If you are not prepared for something then prepare for it by learning or understanding about what you lack instead of having anxiety. Perform at your best. You don't have to do anything more than that. Don't expect something to happen, just go and see for yourself how right or wrong you are about it. Experience it. Control expecting certain things from happening which won't happen.

Practice and keep practicing to have lower expectations. Remember you don't expect if the water is poisoned or not before drinking everytime, you just go with it, even in front of many people. If you were that one specific person who always expect water to be poisoned that of course you know you'll always be nervous to drink any water.

So just go and minimise ramping up the anxious feeling by expecting unnecessary and just live out your life much more positively. ♥️☺️➕

It also cure phobia and any other fear. Also helps reduce depression. One straightforward solution, Go with no expectations and act through pure feedback and accordingly. 🙏🏼

OMG.. the sounds of my childhood... sicades, crickets, water foul, dragonflies the yawn of a beare, bird wings slapping air, tree leaf rustling... all those things we've lost a symbiotic harmony of.. they were so important... how do we bring them back?

I put my sound meter on and measured the Hz and found it to be mostly 432 Hz. This explains the healing natural effect the sound has as it is in harmony and helps the body to balance. There are many videos with healing frequencies and classical music transposed properly to 432. Put on a set of good headphones, turn off the lights, light candles, essential oils, and let the mind and body rest and balance themselves. Also if you have music piped in at work or listen a lot wearing ear buds - it's in 440 Hz which is a dis-harmonic frequency. This is causing damage to your nervous system and altering you mental balance. This man has found the secret.

Wow. In my humble opinion, that cellist is one of the best of the best, and arguably in the Top Twenty cellists globally.
Such evocative playing. I haven't been this moved at a performance for many years.
She would be the most awesome bass player in the jazz/rock fusion genre. Really.

Thank you 🙏🏻
I’m coming across this seven years later after being triggered by someone earlier in the day, and being affected by it for several hours. This made it dissolve into the nothingness that it arose from. A blessing indeed🙏🏻❣️☀️😌

I love the singing bowls with the nature sounds! Those sounds combined tend to be the most relaxing for me. I love the crickets, the sound of wind blowing through grass, or leaves on trees.

The Sound of Acoustic Guitar, when it first came in was excellent.
The basic effect it had was to Induce relaxation. Played along with the chillo would take most people to a " Relaxed state of mind." The sounds of the Tibetan bowls, From when he struck the 1st one. That sound alone was enough to summon my attention.
I do think there is much to be gained from sound therapy.
If we would just "Stop and Listen." Much Appreciation goes out to Jonathan Adams For putting this all together. And bringing it to the Ted show For all of us to enjoy.

If you’re not familiar with liziqi, she’s a Chinese YouTuber that makes beautiful videos about her simple lifestyle. She always plays the most peaceful music in her videos, so I looked up Spotify to see if anyone’s made any playlists of her. There are a few and I highly recommend them! I feel myself calming instantly when I play them. It feels like it’s massaging my brain. It’s helped me a lot. Hope this helps someone else who’s struggling too x

This was a beautiful and relaxing segway into my last night shift at the hospital (I got a promotion:))
I want to hear more from these two.
It is my dream and desire to create a program build on music, movement and meditation for people like me challenged with anxiety and depression.
I will be looking you up Jonathan and Montana.
Thank you so much.
