LMAO! You got me. I found your channel yesterday and today I am looking for leather working tools. I did some leather work a LONG time ago and I had one of those punches like you have and it was junk. Anyway, I'm starting an Amazon list of the must have tools and I had to come see if you had a video, and here it is. I'll check your list of tools. Thanks.

Every tool mentioned (including the honorable mentions) using the provided links will run you about $120. Not bad to end up at a relatively complete tool set for leather work if you improvise all the rest.

I’d add a ceramic blade for the swivel knife once one is ready to invest in it. Superb results! Great tips and video Cl3ver!

Lay your metal ruler along the edge of the stitch line when you are pulling the stitching chisel out. It will make the process a bit smoother.

Hey CL3VER could you do a display of a lot of the projects and items you've created over the years? I think it would be really cool showing off dope stuff you've made

Keeping an edge beveler's blade sharp is a little tricky because stropping it the way you showed isn't sufficient.
I pass my jeweler's rouge on a previously beveled edge, then run the beveler on it.
There also are other ways of stropping that little blade, like passing the rouge on some lace (you tie one end somewhere and pull on the free end to keep it straight), then running the beveler on it!

Places for free marble include interior designers getting rid of samples and anyone throwing out old trophies. They usually have a marble base or a block above a wooden base. It's not a big piece, but you only need a striking surface a couple of inches square if you keep moving the leather over it.

The superstructure on a trophy is usually held with some bolts you unscrew on the bottom.

You mentioned a solid work surface and I couldn't agree more BUT what about a mallet or maul? Got to have something to hit tools with, right? That said, there are videos on how to make mauls from melted milk jugs. I think a video by you on making such a tool would be cool

Excellent list Cl3ver myself I would have swapped out a rivet setter and anvil for the diamond punch. But only because I rivet more than hand sew. A diamond punch would be in the top 10 for sure. Because the couple dollars you spend is well worth the time saved.

my top five beginers tools are a greber, a fork, a spoon, a sponge, and a cotton rag. If you have these tools you can start leather working pretty much immediately.

#1- Solid drive punch. the rotating punches break and split with thicker leather.
#2- Bone folder/Creaser. Very useful for burnishing.
#3- Stitching Pony. Adjustable clamp.
#4- TOOL ROLL. a place to put tools so you aren't wandering around wondering where you put your tool.
#5- Pliers. Useful for stitching, saves fingers from stress as you pull the needle through the leather.

Runner up- Edge burnishing tool.

Any particular links of where to pick up these tools by chance?

Wow, you’re very good at this. I’ve watched your videos for quite awhile and as much as I want to try leather working, there’s just simply no where I can get leather locally. Can you recommend a place to get some good leather?

I'm not a fan of the diamond hole punches. I have a straight 4-prong punch and an angled 4-prong punch, and a single-prong punch. Those work well for all of the stuff that I do. Eventually I may use some of the diamond punches that I have. Also not a fan of the rotary punch. If you're putting too much pressure on it, you can damage the punch tips...which means they won't punch cleanly. Using it a lot can also cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome to develop in your wrists. Hammered single hole punches may take more time and make more noise, but are much better in the long run. Just make sure you use a good punching board underneath.

I would also suggest a good scratch awl. They help if you need to widen the stitch holes a bit before sewing...just be careful, as even a dull one will hurt if it slips and hits your fingers. Oh, and a good stitch groover to keep your stitches from sticking out and catching on things.
