Great video! My Dad taught me basic leather working when I was a tyke. If I could recommend one other tool, which would actually be good to take into the field in your kit, it would be a speedy stitch sewing awl; or something like it (I have an old one that you can actually store needles in the handle). It's great for new projects or for impromptu repair jobs on thick materials like leather or canvass. Thanks for the videos!

Crafted a Deer hide axe sheath based on your video, and now I'm working on a new full grain belt. Also, restoration of my old axe will require a new cover. Really enjoying the new hobby and taking a lot of pride in the heavy duty stuff I am making. Love your videos and how my beer tastes while watching!!!

Just a lil tip...if u have a rotary punch only and the throat isn't deep enough to reach in on ur leather flip the punch upside down and put some scrap leather over the bottom jaw and use ur hammer on it like a single punch...gets u outta a pinch if ur stuck....keep up the great videos!

Dan thanks for keeping it simple. I have a number of projects on my list and have been looking into what I need to make replacement knife sheaths and such. The number for tools a leather worker could have is daunting. After watching your video I believe I'm ready to take the plunge into leather working. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, keep the videos coming.

The first thing I ever made with leather was a guitar strap. I never thought someone like me could actually work with leather, but I still use that strap exclusively on my 1953 Les Paul. If I can do it, anyone can. Thanks for the video, stay safe out there and God bless!

I happen to have all the items except the diamond punch. Never thought much about them all being together like a kit but. Looks like I could easily modify a sturdy dinner fork to make the diamond punch. Thanks for the video.

Please feel free to make more leather craft videos. It’s something I’m extremely interested in learning how to do. I have a Tandy leather near me as well, so that makes it easier.

I would add a beveler and a molding spoon. Can never have too many tools

I haven't done much leather work but I have found the stanley folding pocket knife 0 10 598 really good for both straight and curved cuts. I have it as my marking knife for woodworking, it's brilliant.

Leatherwork is so rewarding and fun! I make all of my pouches and sheathes with leather all the time. The rotary punch is a tool I would love to get though since I just have one of each sized manual punches. Great tips as always🤠🤙

I got into leather work a few years ago and have since made a bunch of my own gear for when I am in the bush. It is very rewarding to see a project come together and to know that it will outlast me if I take care of it. Great list for the 5 items, I would substitute the needles for a speedy stitcher for a bush kit. In a home shop I would agree with the needles! Great video!

I’ve been kicking around the idea of making some leather items but was not sure what I would need to get started other than leather of course. Love the video.

Great recommendations. I started dabbling in leather work a couple of years ago and it's a very rewarding hobby.
