Both are extraordinary scholars, but there is no doubt that Saint Thomas Aquinas was building upon the knowledge produced by Ibn Sina, al-Ghazali, and Ibn Rushd. If it were not for them, there would be no Aquinas.

Literally all of Aquinas's philosophy comes from Imam Al Ghazali, you couldn't even write his name down write, sums it all up. Secondly, Islamic schools like Maturidi, Ashari, Itna Ashari are directly formed through philosophical thought. The main debate between the Atharis and Asharis is on the use of philosophical thought whereas the thought of Aquinas and other Christian philosophers barely adds up to Christian theology, infact scholastic thought in pretty much all major denominations with the possible exception of Assyriac Church, is considered heretical.
