How To Play Guitar Barre Chords - Beginner's Guitar Lesson

In this quick guitar lesson for beginners, I run through the basics of playing the guitar "barre chord" and expand upon the previous power chord lesson. The barre chord is an important chord shape for all guitarists to know and learn. As a beginner, after you've completed this lesson and implement proper practice you will be able to play barre chords easily and will be linked to a tutorial on how to play Ellie Goulding's "On My Mind" which utilises power chords throughout the song.

On your songwriting cheat sheet you talk about major, major 7, minor, minor 7 and 7 in this order when your root note is on the 6th string. When will you use major and minor 7 and 7? I understand that the difference between them is how you place your fingers, but I don’t get when to use each one of them.

My middle finger knuckle naturally doesn’t want to bend. I really have to focus to make it bend. Other than the fact it looks kinda ugly, why does that knuckle need to bend? Ty
