I’ve been playing for a little less than a year and have advanced nicely but barre chords remain a bit of an obstacle for me. This video has been a real help as I now see that I’ve been overextended my wrist, flaring my elbow, and positioning my first finger incorrectly with respect to the fret. Thank you.

Nate, You Rock! I never had trouble with barre chords in my youth, but arthritic fingers and fibrotic deposits on the palmar side tendons of the fingers have left quite a gap, so I had been tilting my finger to get that barre.You're the first person I have ever heard suggest that there could be that gap in the crease (even without arthritis) so I was pleased to hear you cover that. No problem on major chords, but major and (A-type) minor 7th and occasionally (E-type) minor barres leave a gap that I feel I have to live with. Funny that I don't have the problem on my Alvarez parlor guitar, but my other acoustic and even most electrics, I do. Your thoroughness is greatly appreciated. I love your Guitar System course, but these free lessons always shine a great light.  Good Job. You are a born teacher. Stay Well.
