We've worked on this clean 1970 Pontiac GTO several times here at the V8 Speed & Resto Shop, and this time, we installed a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission from Modern Driveline, complete with a hydraulic clutch and a Hurst shifter.

In the past, we've removed, resealed, and detailed the Ram Air III 400 cubic inch V8 engine, and upgraded it with a March serpentine accessory drive system.

Moe! I want your Goat. :) Haven't had a 70...yet. Love the color, and hrdtp. Plus the 5 speed conversion is perfect. And as much as I like the RAIII, with the weight of the 70, I would install a 455 short block, under those heads. :)

Great idea, muscle cars & low ratios rear wouldn't hit high top speeds, with an overdrive you can help with issue, but, this car as you were talking sounded it was up there in the revs. Njoy.

Hey guys, my name is Russ. First let me say I love your channel! I have a question, I am building a 70 GTO convertible i’m converting it to a 455 HO with a four-speed. I was trying to figure out how to customize the four-speed consul to have the wood insert. Then when I saw this video I saw that you used the automatic consul for a four-speed. My question is how difficult was that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
