The holidays are here and with that comes a spirit of connection, joy, and generosity but underneath all that lurks the ugly face of consumerism that threatens to corrupt the whole season. Consumerism is basically the idea that our happiness depends on our possessions. The things we buy. What I hope to do is think of more mindful ways to approach Black Friday or even consumerism as a whole.

I'm a minimalist who has a short list and eternal patience. Often I miss out on something I actually wanted, but hey, still alive. Though I sometimes postpone living life using lack of equipment or some other external reason as excuse, and that's messed up, too. Your video is a tad corny but so much better than all the black Friday shouting in my feed, and I appreciate that. May your Friday be as peaceful as this video.

for several years I have been buying more and more equipment. My attitude has changed and now I act according to the motto "wear things out"...

Another one for me to take away and think upon. Also, again something i've always had in mind but have struggled with. Knowing that I don't "need" the "stuff" but at times still wanting the stuff, this is when the marketing world gets me. So thank you for the timely reminder.

Collect and cherish experiences not things.
