I followed every direction shown in this video, even the fluid spill when filling the case.
Both hands are on fire while I write this, but that's normal, right? Isn't that why Zippos are different?

In my experience handling my zippo, After lifting the bottom packing material, fill the lighter slowly to fully soak the cotton material inside until you see a slight drip from the top end of your lighter. Then fully wipe off any excess fluid around the lighter dry, before you invert lighter and return it in its case. Keep lighter cap open for about 10 - 15 seconds to further evaporate excess fluid that may still be trapped in hard to reach areas in ligter for wiping before lighting it.

Thanks a lot for this tutorial-video. I‘ve just received a special lighter (to ignite You can talk to it, blow at it, knock on it or shake it) and went to buy lighter fluid. Since I have an old Zippo laying around as well, I can fill up both lighters, thanks to Your "How to proper fill up a Zippo" guide.

trying save some people since the original poster didn't include the most important tip for safety which is wash your hands and wipe down the lighter so that you don't course chaos

Using charcoal lighter fluid is unsafe and damaging to the lighter. Instead, you should use naphthalene-based lighter fluid, like Zippo's lighter fluid, which is designed for optimum Zippo performance.

maybe one thing to add is to make sure to wash your hands after adding lighter fluid and before you light it

Do you fill the inside all the way with lighter fluid? Or just put a little bit? Just got my first lighter that I need to fill with lighter fluid 😅
