I like your garden because you don't have a huge amount of land. You are a typical home gardener. That is more like the majority of us. I wish my garden was as beautiful as yours. I always get good tips from you. I've started more seeds this year than ever before. Mainly due to you. Maybe today is the best tip in our Texas heat... Let it go... Thank you for all you do.

I understand. I seem to get burned out every summer about this time. I'm about 3 hours south of you and Summer in Texas can be so hard. I try to focus on what is doing well in my garden and focus on keeping things alive. I was discouraged last week because I had so many weeds but a friend came over and helped me with the weeding and it seemed to go so much faster with the two of us visiting while we worked. I in turn helped her paint her kitchen. We were both encouraged after helping one another with our overwhelming projects.

9b summer garden burnout. Pulled out tomatoes and replanted with nursery starts. Peppers and weeds are loving the heat. Not me! Hiding inside, looking at seed catalogs and looking forward to less hot weather. Watch because you are a real do it yourself gardener! Thanks to you and all our gardening friends for the relatable comments and encouragement!😊❤❤❤

Yep, same. It’s hot. I’ve pulled my tomatoes and kinda decided i just don’t care about growing food…i get much more enjoyment from flowers. And I feel accomplished already this year with growing many more flowers from seed. I do still visit a couple of nurseries per week, checking for some deals and getting a good laugh at how they still want full price for plants that are on the edge of sudden death 😂😂😂 (I’m looking at you, calloways) Great topic, Amanda. We’re all in this together ❤

Just came across your video and I love it. I’m a lazy gardener but live vicariously through YouTube gardeners. But treat yourself with kindness and if you have but one little flower left in your yard, marvel at its beauty. My husband wants to grow food, but he hasn’t started it yet🤫. I’m not helping with that, I support my local farmers markets and grocery stores. Y’all just do you, because you are good enough. Have a happy day.

Sometimes I think we get into the mindset that because we *can* grown year round here in Texas, we should. But I’ve also come to realize that we maybe should take a season of rest, too. During the winter months, nature forces the break up north because the season is just too brutal. I think that’s true for us in the reverse, and it’s OK.

I really love this video and hearing you express how real gardening burnout can be. You provide such awesome helpful tips and smart advice on how to manage when we are feeling overwhelmed or feeling inadequate. Thank you for reminding me that I am not alone and making me realize that it’s ok to take a break and search for inspiration in different ways👏🏻🥰

I am on a major garden burn out right now. It has been a busy summer babysitting grandchildren and going on a vacation with hubby and 19 granchdhildren where I ended up sick during 3 days of it sand the final day going to Emergency room for a pancreatitis attack! I have done several huge garden projects this summer one of which was reclaiming a sloped bed from our above ground pool that once was lovely but after getting two kinds of cancer I finally was on my fifth and final year of recovery I needed to totally redo the huge bed that had been neglected for those 5 years and it was almost necessary to strip it down to the bones and in many instances things had died or gone wild and needed to be replaced. The other big project was putting in a 124" circular butterfly garden in the backyard. Now there are so many things that need to be weeded and remulched, .Things needing to be planted and some transplanted but I sit here when I have a bit of time and can't get in the mood to force my 68 year old body and mind to get out and work some more. I want to be enthusiastic again but I seem to be majorly burned out every year at summer's end. So glad to view your youtube video and hear your ideas. Thank you. zone 6a Lisa

Amanda, this videos timing is perfect!!! I'm in California in zone 9b, we have a dry heat here in Sonoma Co. This summer has been HOT. Many hot days then two weeks in a row over 100. Even the roses got burned up, not just flowers and leaves - the canes! It is discouraging after putting so much effort into the nurturing and care. BUT!! like you said it's all part of the process, the part I dont like . . . Lets face it once we dont have a summer vacation off school anymore, its kind of overrated! Thank you for being real and speaking honestly about your energy levels, mood and feelings about the ups and downs of gardening and life, it really helps!

Zone 7b--certainly don't have to cope with the kind of heat you have to deal with, but the heat and humidity here does make it difficult at times to stay positive and productive in my garden. You have voiced exactly what I ( and I'm sure, what many others) have been experiencing. Gardening was such a joy for me, but it has lately become what feels like an overwhelming and frustrating chore(s). I felt a huge burden lifted just listening to you talk about gardening burnout. I've learned so much from more experienced gardeners, such as yourself, and the issues you touched on in this video are as important a lesson as all the specific gardening details. Thank you for making this video.

Amanada, another great video. Good for you not always filming and enjoying your life without us. ha! BTW Linda Vater did a video on 7/13/24 talking about what she's doing to lift her spirits in the dog days of summer. You two had similar ideas and different. I thought you would enjoy watching hers. Take care and thanks for sure wonderful content.

Take a break, recharge and regroup; but please don’t stop. I love your channel. I took the leap to start annuals from seed this year because of watching your success and your instructional videos and update seedling videos are AMAZING best on-line!!

I completely understand. I'm relieved to hear you have the same feeling as I do. You have inspired me to start so many seeds this year. Honestly without watching your videos I would have just given up this summer. Thank you for being so real and honest. Please keep giving us ways to cope.
