“When I last flew Concorde in 2003, I knew that this day would come. The first flight of the XB-1 supersonic demonstrator is a significant achievement toward making sustainable supersonic flight a reality, aboard Overture – my #1 choice as the successor to Concorde. Congratulations to Blake Scholl, all at Boom and especially its pilot, Bill “Doc” Shoemaker. Having been Concorde’s Chief Pilot I envy his role in this exciting return towards mainstream supersonic flight.” -- Concorde's Chief Pilot for British Airways, Captain Mike Bannister.

The nose camera looks like a super logical, practical solution to not having to drop the nose. Great use of advanced technology since Concorde.

This is honestly impressive. I saw media coverage that was rather biased and rude about this. We cannot expect an entirely experimental aircraft to immediately start flying above mach 1 on its first flight. Still amazing development!

The wing looks like a miniature version of the concorde wing. Very cool aircraft.

And congrats to them! When I first heard about this, I was wondering when they'd start bending tin, looks like they made EXCELLENT progress.

This just shows how Concorde was way too ahead of its time

With that angle of attack it sure looks like there should be airflow problems into the engine. Thanks for sharing.

I had forgotten that they're using the venerable but long-lasting J85 for engines. Three of 'em! Wild looking rig! Love the camera to help with those high AoA landings 😎
