I was always someone who said that I never like to give up, especially on people that I care about… I used to think that if they treated me unkindly or pushed me away it meant that I should be there for them even more, because that’s what I would want someone to do for me.

I realised that giving up is actually staying in the situation and the best favour you can do for anyone or yourself is to walk away. It takes time, but it does give you perspective in the end. It clears your mind and heart to see things differently.

It also helped me take responsibility for why I put myself in that situation, and that was a hard pill to swallow as well. Sometimes these people can be our greatest teachers.
